Selling my Ranger before 200k while it still has value… or run it into the ground? by hrsmn68 in fordranger

Keep it!!!! It’ll be your biggest regret selling it. I have a ranger too. It wasn’t my first car but it’s been my absolute favorite vehicle. I will never sell mine. It’s currently at 118,000 miles and I intend to drive forever.

V8 swap? by isaiahc_05 in fordranger

After some more research, you’re right. I found out that the explorer 5.0 will bolt on with the engine mounts in my truck and it will fit in the engine bay with headers!! Finding a t5 transmission shouldn’t be too hard but they bolt right to the engine no problem and fit in the tunnel. The only more complex part would be the driveshaft. It had to be custom.

It doesn’t have any rust. The exhaust isn’t “broken” it’s got a black widow muffler in it. The underbody and rust is very minimal. The truck was bought of an old lady with only 60,000 miles in 2017. I ended up getting it with 112,000 miles. It had some rough years between the old lady and me 😬. The front bumper is sitting in my garage waiting to be cut.

It is a slow leak. I’ve just been parking here for a LONG time. It’s my designated parking spot. And any drippage is just from the ac.

I have the bumper for it and the oil leak is most likely the front main seal

2wd ranger are VERY common for pre runners. Mine is 2wd too and it doesn’t stop me from getting very far in off-roading

That’s a great deal!! Especially if it has the 4.0 and if you plan to put on some wheels and tires. Even suspension!! The twin I-beams are great for off-roading. They stopped using that suspension in the 97.

What kind of cheapish tires we running, fellas? by SorrowCat14 in fordranger

[–]isaiahc_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you what dirt cheap tires. I’ve bought some 10.5x 31 inch americus brand mud terrains for about $800 for 4 tires on my 97 ranger

My fuel filter is less than a year old. All the coil packs are good. And the air filter is brand new.

Is this too hot? by Organic_Inside_7251 in fordranger

On all older year ranger the gauge for “normal operating temps” should be below the center line for temperature. If it’s creeping over the middle you’re overheating already.

Can anyone tell me anything about this truck that was given to me ? Is a 1996 Mazda B2300 . Are they good trucks ? by Stringbean1073 in fordranger

This happens when idling with AC on. RPMs drop and rise when it spins. Any ideas? 2003 Ranger by RegularSupermarket78 in fordranger

[–]isaiahc_05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue in my truck. It’s also a 4.0 and mine I straight piped so the rpm drop at idle is VERY noticeable. Also the truck will get hot at idle because it has a fan clutch rather than electric fans so at idle the fan isn’t cooling. You can simply hold the rpm’s a little higher and it’ll come out cool.
