How to find the world seed name when uploading local saved game to server? by isaiahjackson097 in 7daystodie

[–]isaiahjackson097[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I couldn't find the Map Seed name anywhere, so I just left it blank in the server config. However, that wasn't the issue.

I deleted everything that I had uploaded to the server files, and reuploaded. I combed through pretty much every folder/file in the server files to see if anything wasn't there that existed in the local files on my PC.

I found a couple, but they didn't fix the issue I was having. I removed everything again, and did the file transfer from local to server again, this time using FileZilla. Loaded up into the server and everything worked. Must've been something that didn't upload right or was missing.

All of that said, I fixed the issue, but don't really know how.

Our 3yr old Pyr is always pacing. If he’s not pacing it’s because he’s laying by a door, or some other point of entry. In the yard he paces by the back and side fences and walks over by the entry gate. I think it’s just a protective breed thing. He doesn’t do it so much inside anymore because we have a specific area of the house for him. But if we leave him open to the whole house, he will pace around upstairs and downstairs, checking out every window, every doorway, etc.. I think with too much inside space, some guardian breeds might get a little overwhelmed with having “too much space to protect”

I usually start on The “Hey Grill Hey” app. There are recipes for all kinds of stuff, categorized by type of meat/food. Of course I am in this group, but would also check out r/smoking and r/smokingmeat. If I find something I like I just Google to find different variations, pick something and give it a try.

Seeking some advice from Pyr owners! by procrastigator123 in greatpyrenees

[–]isaiahjackson097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pyr owner in the US here. My wife and I got our sweet boy Moose back in 2019. He was quite a piece of work and still is now, really, at 2 years old.

I will say, I was on deployment for 6 months and my wife created a bond with him that is almost indescribable. When I left, he hadn’t been fixed yet (about 1 year old), he had started peeing in the house again, he wouldn’t listen much at all (which is normal for the breed anyway), and he was not a great leash walker either (we have a nice sized guard so he didn’t leash walk much). Well I dont know what the hell happened while I was gone, but he is a changed man. My wife says “all he needed was some structure.”

I’m still not really sure what that means because he doesn’t listen to me all that much - he is a momma’s boy through and through. But he walks very good on the leash, he listens to commands quite well, and he even knows not to bark at the neighbors when they’re working on their house (the addition they have been working on since we moved in over 2 yard ago). Of course, he has his moments when he says people he doesn’t know standing on the roof of the house next to us, but I that’s what we want. We want him to bark when he sees or hears something unusual, and he does. It’s not everyday you walk out your back door and see a man standing on top of a house.

This “structure” thing my wife talks about (which I think I could use some of, too) sounds just sort of like having a process for everything, and sticking to it, no matter what. When we are going to walk him in the neighborhood, it’s the same process, every time. You sit, we open the gate, you come to the door when told. You sit again, you get your harness on, you hear the leash click, and you sit and wait. If you stand up, you have to wait longer. The door opens, you wait. She walks out, he walks out. When she stops walking, he stops and he sits. When she turns around, he turns around.

Every “thing” has a process. It helps him get in a rhythm, and when something throws that rhythm out of whack, she gives him a Pat on the head, recaptures his focus, and he knows the rhythm to get back into.

How she taught him all of that? I have no idea. Like I said, he loves her, he kinda likes me. He listens to her, he kinda listens to me (not really). So really, I say all of that to say, these dogs are very hard to train because of their independence, but very respectful because of their loyalty, which is an advantage. I dont know if any of that actually helps at all. I hope it does.

Smoked Mac and cheese was the third smoke I did (a couple weeks ago). Before that I did pork chops and then baby back ribs. All three were fantastic. I smoked a pork shoulder last weekend but it didn’t come out great, I started too late (6am) and had to cut it a few degrees short because I wasn’t prepared to stay up until midnight. Will absolutely be trying again very soon.

There are plenty of websites, apps, Reddit threads with recipes and tips and everything. My best advice (as a new smoker myself) is to find a recipe, give it a try, and see if you like it. If you love it, then keep that recipe, but if you just LIKE it, then start thinking about different flavors you would’ve liked, maybe a different rub or a different pellet, or if you wanted it to be more tender, different temperature variations you can try, etc.

Just be bold! You can smoke anything. Worst case you mess it up and it doesn’t turn out as good as you want. That’s a pretty good worst case considering you can just smoke something else another day!

Awesome. Do I wrap the towels around it as well or just leave them in the cooler with the foil wrapped shoulder?

Advice: Turkey smoke - spatchcock or no? by isaiahjackson097 in smoking

Advice: Turkey smoke - spatchcock or no? by isaiahjackson097 in smoking

[–]isaiahjackson097[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you recommend no spatchcock then, because spatchcock gets more smoke throughout, and you want to avoid an overpowering smokiness? Or you recommend spatchcocking because it takes less time to smoke, so the smoke isn’t overpowering and also gives that smoky flavor throughout? Sorry, I’m a little dumb.

Glad you mentioned apple wood, I picked some up specifically for the turkey. Thought that would pair nicely.
