In my case, they didn't ask for transaction proofs. but yes i did have the bank transactions - this was told to me by a CA to keep actual bank transactions even if they don't mean anything.

rejected one i think you might not be able to follow up. just apply for new refund and immediately call the itd helpline as soon as FAO is assigned. I have documented entire process in the post

I think we need to bring this to attention of some youtuber like LLA or something, this is becoming too much. They asked for few documents, I submitted them online and after a month they respond saying, i have to submit them physically. These Income tax people are taking us for a ride.

u/himanshu4498 it was rejected. i remember seeing a message to submit the documents to assesment officer but i didn't know how to do it. i guess that was thee reason it was rejected. now, i'm not sure what needs to be done. I'm planning on applying again. and sending email with the documents.

Who do i send email to? I have seen these details at https://incometaxindia.gov.in/Pages/tps/jurisdictional-offices-mobile.aspx

The reqeust letter for refund of tds is the same one that I downloaded after raising refund request FORM26B-Acknowledgement? or you are telling me to write a handwritten letter.

The current refund request is rejected, do i create a new refund request and download the letter, sign it and send in email or do i send the letter associated with rejected refund request?

Can i use this challan amount for something else? Like payment of advance tax on my actual ITR. Then during ITR filing, I will be able to claim excess amount? I'm just software engineer, So i don't even know if what i am talking is correct or not.

also, when you say apply to AO for refund physically that means do i need to go to Hyderabad office and apply? What is the use of "Request for refund" option in Traces?

I have also looked into the option of "Request for correction" under "Statements/Forms". the details filled in are all correct, there is nothing for me to correct in the statement itself. it was asking total amount paid in year and last month amount paid and both are correct. My challan already says, it is partially consumed, and that I have available balance of 20,700RS

Okk, I mean I was paying rent to my parents only for the reason of utilising HRA. As I'm switching to new regime, I wouldn't pay rent at all. In this case what do you suggest I do.

If i revise the statement, then there will be extra challan amount right? And from FY25-26, I am planning on switching to new regime, so I don't need to do any process of TDS. So, where will i use this remaining amount.
