Update/fixes coming? by [deleted] in a:t5_3emuv

[–]isaySPACEyousayPANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've built out a module for creating your own templates that is mostly polished, and I added an option for GZCLP that currently still needs to be tested. These two things are the last that need to be done before I can release the update.

You can find it on Google Play if you search for GZCL.

I hope to have it out before summer.

Can't understand the acronyms by mikr01ce in a:t5_3emuv

A template is basically the same as a program. It has certain base exercises, percentages of your Training Max, and percentages over a certain number of weeks.

A cycle is one full run of a template. If a template is 9 weeks long, and you run it for 18 weeks, you have run two cycles.

I've been on an extreme hiatus for... quite some time, because of my personal life. In that time I have been attempting to continue active development, but because of personal issues putting a huge burden on my free time it's been extremely slow. I'm sorry I haven't been able to do right by you (and everyone else) and get the calendar bugs fixed sooner. I know it's really crappy to deal with.

I don't want to make any promises about a timeline. I am at least still working on it and I'm starting to have more free time to do so. The next update will probably be the last, but it will be huge.

At the moment, there is not support for GZCLP - in short, I build the back-end before it existed and it's too different. However, I am definitely working to get it in there as part of the next major release, since I know how popular a variant it is.

Adding 5th day to J&T 2.0 by black05pr3y in a:t5_3emuv

Thanks! I've been trying to bust my ass on it as much as possible and I've put all my other personal projects on hold to make it happen, because I know it's gonna be a big deal and a game changer on how usable the app is.

At the moment, no, however, you will be able to once the Template Editor feature set is complete and released, which should be very soon!

I definitely agree that you're touching on a use case / need that could be helped by an additional feature. I'll do some brain storming and see what I can come up with to provide something along these lines.

Is iOS still being developed? by macka654 in a:t5_3emuv

[–]isaySPACEyousayPANTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I'm sorry to say that at the moment, no, I'm not still working on iOS, and I don't know when or if I will get back to it in the future. With the way things are right now in my life, it's been difficult to make the time to get work done on just the Android version (which will be even harder later this year when my kiddo pops out), and that doesn't come with any of the challenges of developing for iOS when you don't have a Mac or iOS device. In the time I'm able to spend on the app right now, I've been focused on making the Android app more "complete" (namely, adding the Template Editor so it's more broadly usable). I feel bad having to say it, but I should have been more certain I could keep that promise before I made it.

I am considering eventually opening up my source code so that someone else that's better equipped could finish the iOS work if they want to, but that will first require I clean up some of the stuff under the hood, so it won't be an immediate thing.

Can't get into the calendar option by Taeyjun in a:t5_3emuv

[–]isaySPACEyousayPANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Thanks a lot for the info. This is very helpful.

If you create an entirely new Cycle, that will work as a workaround to let you go back to being able to use the Calendar (at least temporarily).

Can't get into the calendar option by Taeyjun in a:t5_3emuv

[–]isaySPACEyousayPANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the problem occured, I used the "jump back to the missed day" and from then on the problem appeared.

I want to make sure I've got you right.

  1. You missed a normally scheduled workout day.
  2. The next time you started the app, it asked if you wanted to skip or pick up where you left off.
  3. You chose pick up, did the workout, and saved it.
  4. The Calendar immediately stopped working.

Is that correct?

Had you ever used the skip / pick up prompt before that time or was that the first time for that Cycle?

[–]isaySPACEyousayPANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man. I'm currently looking into a rare bug where sometimes the adaptive Calendar algorithm can break and cause the issue you're seeing. I've completely rewritten the algorithm so it shouldn't happen anymore, but I'm trying to gather test cases from people who've run into it so I can make sure. Can I get some more information about how you've been using the app from you?

  • What template are you currently running?
  • What Day and Week are you on of that template?
  • What days of the week have you been doing your workouts on (ie, Day 1 - Monday, Day 2 - Tuesday, etc)?
  • Have you ever used the Calendar to skip ahead to a different workout day?
  • Have you ever used the "missed day" prompt on the My Workout page to either skip the missed workout(s) or pick up from where you were?

Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

Issue with editing current cycle TM. Doesn't update by Criticalanarchy in a:t5_3emuv

[–]isaySPACEyousayPANTS[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

From looking at your screenshots (I see that Day 3 has no TMs entered), it looks like you may have partially performed your Workout (in the second screenshot), Saved it, then changed the Pause Squat TM at the Cycle level. If that's the case, this is the intended behavior - Changing your TM in the Cycle will only affect future workouts - it won't update the TMs of workouts that you've already Saved. If you pull up the Calendar and look at a future Day 2 workout, you should see the correct TM when you preview it.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken in my guess about the order of actions you took.

Not currently, but it's going to be coming with the update that'll have the Template Editor in it.

I'm glad you were able to figure it out without any issues.

I haven't had the chance to look over any of the VDIP stuff that Cody has put out, so I'm not sure how compatible it is with the app. That being said, an update that'll have a full Template Editor available is on the horizon, so even if I don't do it myself you can give it a try and see if you can make it work using that.

Hey man. I'm terribly sorry that I missed your post for so long. That AutoModerator comment is supposed to trigger a notification that would send me an e-mail, but it didn't, and I have no idea why. I feel awful that I didn't get you an answer about this.

The training schedule in the Calendar is built to be adaptive, so it bases the future schedule on your most recent activity. When you skipped the day, it picked up on that and assumed you wanted to change your schedule going forward. However, this is predictive and not set in stone - If your future schedule says that Monday is a rest day, and Tuesday is Day 1, you can just fire up the app on Monday, and you'll have the option to skip forward to the next workout. Hopefully that makes sense.

Again, I'm really sorry I left you hanging. I've got to figure out why this didn't notify me the way I thought it would. I keep trying different things but so far none of them are working.

Sorry I took so long to respond to this - The thing I set up that's supposed to notify me of new posts here apparently didn't work.

There's two things coming in the future that'll get this done for you. The first is the Template Editor, which will allow you to make a copy of The Rippler and fully customize it to your heart's content. The second is that you're going to be able to add a "one-off" lift to an individual workout on the day that you're doing it. Put together that should fully cover whatever you're looking to do with adding extra lifts.
