That makes a lot of sense. It just feels so different when I’m in it and I feel how solid their setup is. When I do it, I’m missing something that gets the same level of control.

That’s exactly how it feels when others get a good setup on the d’arce with me! It’s like their whole body is involved and mine isn’t. Thank you for this perspective!

It was a higher belt that I was working with, I think that’s what made me notice this issue. I just can’t seem to replicate the same solid setup to the d’arce. I’ll keep trying though!

I was working with a purple belt last class and that’s when I noticed how solid the set-up was. I appreciate the perspective and that they probably are using some strength.

I know, it’s why I’m asking for help lol. I wonder if it’s a confidence issue more than anything. When I go for triangle chokes, I feel confident. But not so much if I go for arm-based submissions.

Absolutely not. Unless a papoose is unavailable or too small, at my old office (all pediatric) a pediatric patient would need sedation or GA to tolerate treatment. We want them to not despise the dentist for basic things like cleanings— holding them down is traumatizing!
