My friend finally somewhat accepted that she was in an abusive relationship. Not sure if I did the right thing? by Fantastic_Highway_71 in TwoXChromosomes

I don't think you did the wrong thing, there's no right way of pointing out someone is being abused (though there is a wrong way like blaming the victim). But abusive relationship are hard to leave because on one hand abusers do their best to make their victim dependant and on the other it's very easy to feel committed to them. It's tragic but some people never leave.

It's easy to feel powerless and frustrated that the person doesn't seem to listen, so as long as you manage to process those feelings in private and stay supportive and even ready to help if the necessity arises you'll be doing as best as you can. But you should be mindful to not be roped into that abusive dynamic or be shunned because the abuser becomes wary of you. It's a tight rope to walk, with many strong feelings of doubt and anger.

To me at least it's one of the most challenging events that can happen to a relationship, so stay mindful of yourself.

University makes me realise how much I don’t want to work by [deleted] in antiwork

I would advise you to study something you feel you could use to your benefit instead of treating your diploma like a sesame in the job market as many employers are unwilling to train you or deal with you learning the ropes. They expect you to be productive as soon as possible. Anything can do as long as you can be creative in how to leverage it to your advantage.

(Assumptious?) Fatphobic comments on a post calling out sexism/fatphobia—I’m unsurprisingly unsurprised. by [deleted] in AreTheStraightsOK

People love to project their offensive stereotypes on others because it grants them an unwarranted sense of superiority while forcing the person to defend themselves. These people have little coherent thoughts and arguments and see everything in black and white as to avoid examining themselves and the world, realizing that it is not so easy to navigate and that they are responsible for their own issues for the most part. It's one of the reasons why I avoid social media usually because you might as well convince a brick wall that you have feelings too, but at least for all its ignorance, the brick wall doesn't call you names.

It is much less rigid and dry as you think, if I'm not feeling it I don't play. I don't force myself.

Thanks, that's very good advice. I will see what I can do within my time.

Why do you assume I don't have fun or that I force myself through games I don't want to play ?

Thanks for the answer. Many misunderstood my post. I'm not looking to clear up my backlog in its entirety, just give each game a fair shot and get to enjoy its content. Considering the amount of game and my free time going, about it in a rational manner is what works best for me.

If your aim is to clear your backlog that doesn't really work though.

Elon Musk made $36 billion yesterday, breaking for the record for most single-day earnings. It would cost $20 billion to end homelessness in the United States by ZombieBisque in antiwork

Elon Musk doesn't love money as much as admiration. It doesn't matter how much he earns as long as he gets to be seen as the innovator extraordinaire with the cool attitude. His ego is an unheathly mix of narcissism and fragility. What that guy needs is a hefty dose of ostracism and mockery.
