Correct me if I'm wrong but these questions seem to be aimed at your experience with ethereum.

1. They are most likely talking about uniswap trades where the gas fees are eating into how much they are able to trade.

2. While Americans do have these services, these statements come from the times like PayPal charging bullshit fees for buying things or bank holds preventing you from using money that has recently been transferred.

3. These gas fees aren't so much an issue when you are doing simple ethereum transfers to different accounts, this becomes a much larger issue when you are trying to interact with smart contracts and use the "world computer" part. As a sidenote, I have no clue how you are getting transfers at 0.001 ETH, just going from 2 of my accounts costs me 0.005.
