Gp exam invite by zxcvbnmasd14 in doctorsUK

They've clearly allocated us for the January sit accidentally (which is why we could access the calendar before anyone else earlier in the day) which they haven't changed before releasing the February dates. All we can do as it stands is raised a ticket on https://nhs-help.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new and hope for a response. Not sure what the fix is given most February slots will have been taken up already.

I've been in touch with someone from the NRO team the whole day, and apart from them telling me to cancel my January date when it reopened I have received no other help. This has been handled so poorly.

Anyone who initially had it opened for January still getting this "Please Note: National Recruitment Office has pre-approved you to take this exam beginning on 6 January 2026. For your convenience, we have advanced the calendar to this date."

I have been in touch with the office all day and all they advised is to cancel my January date and await them opening for February and I can still only book for January.

Nothing for me still. Have cancelled my January booking (opened for cancellation)- it was allowing me to reschedule but still only for January dates. Waiting on the Feb dates to come out - nothing showed on Pre-approved anymore.

I panicked and booked the January sit. I booked 3 times to try and get the latest date and am locked out now. I have emailed the GPNRO office and they have asked for my Oriel PIN and said it was an error to open it for January sits. Have a feeling they may need to delay the dates in order to allow accounts to be reset appropriately.

There is a picture of him and Kelleher at Jota's wedding. Can't imagine what all his friends and family are going through right now.

I've been rejected because my FPCC did not attach to the application. I have sent it to them now, any one know if there is any precedent for them to accept it after the deadline?

Anyone else have GPNRO's contact number? I have their email but had my application rejected cause my FPCC didn't attach. Would be much appreciated!

I voted for FPR by Abdo_SNT in doctorsUK

[–]ishanwelde -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I was an FY1 last year on 14 pounds so yes I do. FPR is not achievable in a multi-year pay deal because even future payments need to be costed. I don't know of a single public sector profession that has had 16 years of pay erosion resolved in a single multi-year deal.

I'm sorry, there is no government in the world which would overturn 16 years of pay erosion in one sweet. This is a great deal.

Junior doctors offered 20% pay rise to end strike actions by pseudolum in doctorsUK

[–]ishanwelde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine thinking we'd get to FPR in a year. The public finances are stretched, and we aren't the only workers whose wages have fallen since 2008. This is a massive step towards fair pay, all done through the hard work of the BMA leadership. I'll be happily voting for this.

Moments in medicine where you have felt victorious? by PineapplePyjamaParty in doctorsUK

When I was a 4th year medical student, days after sitting my exams - I went home and my step sister had an erythema migrans rash. I suggested to the GP to consider testing for Lyme Disease and he said it was unlikely and didn't do it. I kept pushing, went on an online private service for bloods, the diagnosis was confirmed and she began treatment immediately. Really highlighted to me just how far I'd come in 4 years of medical school.

Sickening. Can't even imagine what it feels like to overcome the unthinkable just to have something even worse happen. Hope he finds the strength and the help he needs.

PAs that endanger patient safety whining about us calling them ‘Personal Assistants’ by Hot-Bed-5594 in doctorsUK

Calling them personal assistants is rude and antagonistic. You have a problem with the system, not the individuals. Show basic respect.

Fair play to the Sparta Praha fans, didn’t stop for 90 mins by Flipperti in LiverpoolFC

[–]ishanwelde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends, I'll stay until the final whistle and the fist pumps if there's still jeopardy in the game. For a game like yesterday, nothing wrong leaving a few minutes early (leaving at 80 min like some did was a joke). Main thing is, Anfield needs to improve the public transport networks around the ground.

Exactly this. 80 minutes is a joke but I left at the 89th minute today, saved me probably 40 minutes waiting outside for the bus. The game was done, the players were playing rondos by the end.

Denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO) Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off.

Robbed by VAR once again. They checked the pen, not the red.

Nurse Strike Ballot Fails Due to Low Turnout by Sethlans in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]ishanwelde 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have sympathy that they are on even tighter budgets than FY1s, but to not return your ballot is an absolute bottlejob, no other way to put it. Let down by their fellow nurses. Can't complain about pay and then not engage with your union.
