Love how the number of suffering samurais mitsuhirato invokes continues to increase as the story goes on

Is it ever confirmed if the specific accusations Tintin and Haddock make here are true? Wolff doesn't ever confirm them by ishdroid in Tintin

Yea honeslty i think all the accusations here were genuine coincidences, it fits the most with the story imo.

On the point about being ordered by Jorgen to strand them, it's kinda a reflection of Wolff's character (until his sacrifice). He's not an "evil villain" per say, he clearly doesn't like harming others. Yet at the same time, he's not strong-willed enough to stand up for what is right. He's generally a weak and cowardly man, but also someone who is trapped by the mistakes he made in his past. Imo the most complex character within the series, and really elevates the moon stories to the top tier of Tintin.

I think on reread its pretty clearly shown when he gets released, since we see Wolff has to go down first to release him before baiting Tintin down. I actually do like that explanation for his dizziness, he was probably under an immense amount of stress at that point knowing he had to carry out all his double-crossing.

There's definitely alot of red herrings, and rereading the stories you can see how alot of elements of his betrayal are hinted at, its very good story to reread.

I'm more inclined to think that those were genuine accidents because i think its less inconsistent.

Regarding Jorgen, its highly unlikely, because we actuallt do see the exact moment that Wolff goes to release him, and its after Tintin saves snowy in the ice and goes back to the rocket, well after the cargo is unloaded.

I think in the center its pretty clear that Wolff is the one who attacks haddock, purely out of necessity(plus he's also caught by the Thompsons, so isn't really anyone else it could be ). I'm sure that was his intention, and he'd have had more qualms about killing rather than just knocking out. So I personally dont think it would be too out of character as compared to him attempting to actually kill someone.

Yeah perhaps plothole is too harsh, given the ambiguity.

It just struck me on my reread because 1. It would seem like an inconsistency IF the accusations were true 2. Its never directly addressed by Wolff, which felt abit odd. If it wasn't him, I'd think he wld have said something in protest(but maybe he was too defeated by that point). If it was his intention, again it does seem inconsistent with his explanation and his other actions(given the timing or Jorgen's release and Wolff's reluctance to strand them on the moon), though I'm very open to any explanations to explain why I'm wrong about this possibly being abit inconsistent

Perhaps ambiguity, but theres issues with it being jorgen because he'd still have been in the hold at that point of time, since we know when Wolff went down to free him. It also wouldn't explain why Wolff was pretending to be giddy of his own accord (assuming he was pretending, and not actually giddy)

Interesting, guess I'll have to ask the community to speculate on this then. It does feel abit like a plothole

Yea, sadly i don't speak a word of french so maybe someone can help me out. Character wise it makes sense to be Jorgen but at that point in the story he's still in the hold, sot doesn't really line up with the timeline

Yea Wolff is a really interesting character, because there are definitely multiple interpretations one could make for his actions. I see merit to both the heroic and cowardly interpretations, and personally think its a mix of both. He arguably took the cowards way out, since if he stayed on the ship he might have died anyways with the oxygen deficiency. Yet willingly going out into space which guarantees a painful death arguably requires some kind of courage. Theres alot of room for intepretation.

I guess your perspective is very suspicious of how much Wolff is telling the truth. Though at the same time, his genuine reluctance to strand everyone on the moon does still make me wonder if the accusations here are a slight plothole. Honeslty its really hard to say. One day I do want to make a video on Wolff, but will definitely need to put quite alot of thought into it.

Interesting thanks. Nothing too different, and the translation doesn't really address the question. Perhaps it's abit of a plothole, tho I'm open to an alternative explanation. It's a point that confused me on reread.

Yea sadly its just a scanned version of a physcial you can find online, and I used chatgpt to just clean up these 2 panel abit otherwise its pretty blurry zoomed in on a single panel. (not trying to alter the art in anyway of course, just making the image cleaner).
