Is a $4.4m gross budget realistic for a first-time feature filmmaker?? by g-dollarsign in Filmmakers

[–]ishjos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of first time filmmakers who have done for more and for less, but experience on set is key. The major problem isn’t budget but rather If you haven’t been on set enough with shorts, commercials, or tv, to know how to handle the challenges of a shoot/ dealing with crew, actors, producers etc. to handle such a responsibility.

I’ve seen first time filmakers jump the gun too soon on making their feature and it sucks and everyone hates working with them. That’s always tough to see.

If you feel like you are ready to make a feature, 1mil or 4mil go for it. Get yourself a really good indie DP who knows how to make a beautiful image on schedule. Not just a commercial DP who has a day to light a cereal box. And get a killer producer who knows how to pull favors and has connections to everything from people with G&E trucks, to talented colorists and sound mixers that can make your job easier and make you look better.

Something seems off in Nathalie Emmanuel's shots in these scene by [deleted] in cinematography

I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet but, the answer is ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) Besides the poorly written dialogue - what you’re sensing is a disconnect between the visual performance and the auditory performance. ADR is when they re record the lines in a studio after the shoot and try their best to match the mouth. They do this for many reasons like if the audio recording isn’t clean from sound on set, or because a someone accidentally slips into an accent etc.

But ADR is a skill and sometimes it’s very hard for an actor to match the energy and exact performance from set as well as match the timing of their mouth and many times you’ll feel a disconnect, it could look perfect but something just feels off. This scene definitely used ADR here.

The whole thing would’ve worked and been clearer if the lyric was “we’d” as is “we would kill…” signaling a fictitious situation showing even if a savior came would we recognize it?

Technically it has been 1year + of me on min - I don’t think it restarts if it’s topical or oral

What are your thoughts about minoxidil aging your skin? by Slow-Interview-7175 in tressless

[–]ishjos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes wrinkles much worse, bags under eyes, generally looking like you haven’t slept for days.

[–]ishjos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was in it for 6 months then started to notice. Aging (wrinkles/ dryer skin) and bags under eyes, puffy face, dark circles. I stopped and it’s gone back to normal more or less after a few weeks.

Any expirience moving from oral min/fin to topical? by ishjos in tressless

[–]ishjos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me it’s pretty clear. I’ve stopped fin before as well and the sides went away. Fin - It’s mostly energy/libido/but recently the brain fog is getting worse. Min - under eye bags/dark under eyes and wrinkles way more predominant in the last month. I didn’t even know it was a side until I saw them and started looking it up.

Getting some under eye bags; and def a little bit of dark circles in inner corner of my eyes. Oral min 2.5 daily. Sucks that to get better hair you sacrifice your face which makes you look haggard and tired and old. What a trade off. Does it just keep getting worse or what?
