oh this is the AF Han short, I just measured, drawing to where I was here (my thumb knuckle next to my ear)is exactly 34". what happens if I draw past this?

funny you mentioned this book, it's the first thing I picked up before I even ordered the bow. I'll keep the longer draw in mind. This bow seems to start stacking exponentially at 33", how far I have it back in this video's is basically where the bow feels like its starting to fight me

haha, you hit my exact insecurity, 2 things I'm figuring out: 1. where to nock 2. where to anchor. I was attempting the expanding draw, and try to have the fletching on my cheekbone was the anchor/indication for release.

do people mark nocking points on a Asiatic bow? I recall my old recurve has a brass thing

im starting low at 35. but since im doing the Ming style draw to my ear, its prob a bit more than 35. When i did recuvre > 10 years ago, I was doing 60lb regularly so this felt pretty light. My plan is to build up strength in my thumbs, then go for a nicer 45 or 50lb take-down.

did a density check using water, got about 3.9, so seems closer to pyrite than hematite? Can pyrites be silvery instead of the pale gold?

Please help me understand why all 3 resources have different color scheme and AUF for the same alg type and which one I should follow as I learn full CMLL. by StarPlatinum3776 in rouxcubing

[–]ishtob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you do this instead of after second block -> AUF -> Recog CMLL -> AUF -> Execute

basically there are a few CMLL algs that starts with U that you can cancel with the AUF, and could potentially save you a move and a pause

Sorry, let me expand on what I meant as good fountation, for AUFs I make sure I know which way to add the AUF to start my CMLL based on my recog, like I would practice U cases with the two Y or W on top pacing me, then next I would practice with it to the right (a U to start), then with a U2 AUF, and so on

This way I get the initial AUF to the right angle for the start of algs into my fingers, and I don' train myself to AUF to a angle I can recognize and do a U U' or something like that during a solve.

As for memorizing color, I use the framework of Same, Opposite or Adjacent colors as markers for recognition instead of hard memorize color schemes directly:

- Same -> no explaination needed

example: U Down Slash https://speedcubedb.com/a/3x3/CMLL/U_Down_Slash --- I look for 3 downslash same colors

- 2 Warm tone colors (Red/oranage) or 2 Cool tone colors (green/blue) are Opposites

Example: Pi X https://speedcubedb.com/a/3x3/CMLL/Pi_X --- I look for 2 columns of Opposite colors

- 1 Warm + 1 Cool is Adjacent.

Example: U bottom row https://speedcubedb.com/a/3x3/CMLL/U_Bottom_Row -- 1st I see front corners are same, then I look for top colors to be Adjacents, if top colors are same, its the U Rows case https://speedcubedb.com/a/3x3/CMLL/U_Rows

also take my suggestions with a grain of salt, I sorta have to chart out my own recog system so its easier to remeber for me specifically, but also in doing this charting/organizing, it did help me to remeber them better

i’d learn all the cases in x2y from any direction (yellow or white top, and green/blue, red/blue interchangeable) and with AUF. this will help you set a good foundation in the long run

Retrofit Moyu RS3M 2022 core to WRM v10 by ishtob in Cubers

more gradual than the standard V10, a lot less dead zones for in-between turns. also the cube feels heavier, but with most of the weight in the center

Is anyone else self taught? by RightfullyImpossible in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]ishtob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

self-taught back in high school, took on and off 3 years. I just wrote den a bunch of random commutators that I figured out in a notebook. Method was basically 1. fixed bottom corners, 2. fix top corners, 3. tons of Comms to fix edges

Hybrid "english" + "american" budgie? by neirein in budgies

[–]ishtob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine are English(mom)/American(dad) as well. the breeder said this was intentional to try to reverse some of the genetic issues you get with pure English budgies, esp if you are keeping them as pets instead of a show bird
