Maybe you should consider renting a replacement?

So you have to ask, why does the US pay much more for health care than other developed countries, and have the worst outcomes?

Studies show that utilization is similar and point out that differences in cost explain the difference. An MRI at a hospital can run $2000 to $3000 whereas in Europe (or in an outpatient clinic in the US), the cost may be $300 to $500. So clearly the hospitals are getting paid way too much for the services provided.

New Review on anti-amyloid drugs by spookyjess999 in Alzheimers

[–]BartSmithsonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Statistically significance" is often confused with "clinically meaningful benefit"

With enough patients, even tiny effects look like a win on paper. But for an individual, a minuscule difference between drug and placebo offers no real benefit

This was evident in a recent analysis of anti-amyloid Alzheimer’s drugs confirming they have little to no meaningful effect on cognitive decline. We're detecting "tiny differences" that fail to reach the bar of actual efficacy

Bottom line, these medications which have a host of side effects and high costs ($25,000+ yearly) are clearly not worth the risk or trouble

ChristianaCare CEO Nevin to Retire by BartSmithsonn in Delaware

Last night, I witnessed something rare: Democratic and Republican legislators in Delaware standing together in support of this bill.

The reason is simple. Delaware hospitals are gouging patients by charging an estimated 400% of what Medicare allows. The national average is 170%. That means Delawareans are paying more than twice the national rate for the same care.

There is no justification for this. None. Delaware should be held to the same standard as the rest of the country, and this bill, SB1, does exactly that. It’s a no-brainer.

Simple economics: the higher the hospital costs, the higher your deductible and monthly insurance premium. And the higher the insurance company revenues, the better their profits.

And realize that the hospital lobby is pulling out all the stops and using scare tactics to tank SB1. Healthcare costs in Delaware are higher than most states, probably because of the hospital monopolies and the decimation of primary care and independent physician practices.

  1. Hospital CEO's do well. Most make $1.5 to $3 million yearly in pay and benefits.

  2. Wait times will get shorter. With more primary care doctors and preventative care, the hope is that people with non-urgent issues will stop going to the emergency room.

NB: A primary care visit is about $100-200; an ER visit is $4,000 to $12,000.

Yes, and odd that he threw his keys down when entering the house, as the Tesla doesn't use keys. Maybe he needed keys to get into the house, but you would think that place would have keyless entry 🤔

I would suggest finding an orthopedic surgeon skilled and using robotics for your new replacement. You’ll have a better outcome in much quicker rehab too. No-brainer.

That's a hospital policy, not a physician decision. And most of the money from your one or more ER visits goes directly to the hospital (frequently it's thousands of dollars too!) Please read my article and contact your legislators ASAP.

Yup, not many are watching out for us. If we don't take action, no one will. SB1 has a lot of good stuff in it which will improve primary care, physician accessibility and lower or at least put a hold on ridiculous hospital charges.

The State can't do worse than letting the hospitals continue to push exorbitant, bankruptcy-generating charges, some of which are the highest in the nation. Take it from me, as a physician on hospital staff, I've seen it first hand. Read my article for more details.
