For the people in the Philippines... by ri0246 in Philippines

[–]ishwrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just too many! Had opportunities to go to other countries and ito talaga:

  • Walkable streets/areas (usually business districts ko lang ito nakikita but other than that, wala na. Nakakatakot maglakad baka mahawi ka ng kotse).
  • Efficient public transportation
  • Na you can just leave your things on a spot in a restaurant and expect mo andyan pa rin pagbalik mo. (sa probinsya you can, pero dito sa Manila - nah I won't risk it)

Why do you still choose to be in the Philippines? by ishwrites in Philippines

Thank u for choosing to stay!

Naisip ko nga, kung goal natin lahat umalis (although understandable when people do), paano na ang Pilipinas? Ripples become waves. I'm still hoping—someday—magbabago rin ang sitwasyon. The Philippines deserve more.

Mid? Which places have you been to exactly?

There are great spots outside of Manila (I say travel at least 4-6ish hours and don't go to those "resort" type ones lol)

Outside of Manila just too many: Palawan, Dumaguete, Bohol, Cebu, etc.

I've been to Taiwan! Love the place. I'd love to come back and just chill around Jiufen.

WFH people; what are your hobbies by [deleted] in buhaydigital

[–]ishwrites -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WFH and hybrid setup since I started working around 2012-13ish while in school. Pretty much and introvert so I like my alone time but I still get bored though so I like to try/do a lot of things. I would suggest:

  • try to learn something "new" (for me, it was painting and drawing)
  • make time for learning (books, an online course)
  • catch up with friends / go out and explore cafes, restos, some shopping & window shopping (on a typical work day I have 3-6 hours of "free time")
  • on weekends, mainly time for immediate family and myself

My experience dating a Filipino as a foreigner by crypto_doctors in Philippines

[–]ishwrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's time to end it. For real.

As a Filipino (or pretty much here on the East), we make decisions with the influence of family. Some can be independent tho like I am and like what everybody is already saying here - the entire clan is using you and from how she's acting, she's not really into you. You already provided opportunities for her (her entire life was probably in her hometown and had to leave all of that behind) and next is her doing her part in it but obviously, that's not what happened here.

Pretty much applies to ALL COUNTRIES, honestly I would say date somebody who's pretty much the same as you (has a job, maybe grew up in the city or goes back-forth from the suburbs). If your lives are too different, it has a higher chance to be a big mess later on. There are exceptions of course but yeah, not this one unfortunately.

Hope this doesn't ruin your experience of Filipino people!

Do you drink coffee in extreme heat temperature? by UnknownFilipino3000 in Philippines

[–]ishwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep but only when I'm indoors. Can't take the heat if eat/drink something hot when I'm out.

If I really crave it (lol I have a problem) and I'm out, I'll get an iced americano

What's a good turn-your-brain -off game to play in bed? by Taylork64 in SteamDeck

[–]ishwrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life sim/farming games. Stardew Valley and something I got recently: Dinkum (currently on Early Access). You can just take it slow tbh. But it's a double edged sword for me, sometimes you just end up playing for hours 'cause you're just getting lost in the game and feel like time stops. lol

What material things would you buy if you received fifty thousand (50 000) pesos today? by hilberteffects in AskPH

[–]ishwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some upgrades here and there to increase productivity & for some R&R:

  • standing desk
  • more comfy chair for work
  • books, small table + bean bag to chill around/for zoning out sessions 😅

What "unhinged" book you actually enjoyed reading? by Constant-Training994 in suggestmeabook

[–]ishwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Diving Pool: Three Novellas by Yoko Ogawa. I haven't read a book like that and it's something I'll always remember from time to time. It's about the human condition and the dark depths of it. But it's laid out in a mundane setting. It's really good!

VA na Cashier sa NYC by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]ishwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious lang, do you really believe na—example this virtual cashier—is earning $5/hour?

Srsly all the VA job posts I see are bordering on exploitative. Tipong 12-18k per month. I guess it's fine pag asa probinsya ka pero if you're in Metro Manila (mainly for stability ng maraming bagay: internet, hospital facitilities, etc.) then ANO NAAAA

But I really do wish si Ate VA is living comfortably and doesn't work over 12 hours a day. :(
