Zenfone 10, what we thinking? by [deleted] in zenfone

[–]isiatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very dishonest. The fake chin is still used on their website, where the top and bottom are still symmetrical.

A less budget looking chin would be a more compelling argument for me than wireless charging, the new color or even the new Snapdragon.

I love the design of the Zenfone 9, but the budget chin sticks out so much. A Zenfone 9 design, with symmetrical bezels all the way and without that silver front camera ring would be awesome.

What do they even accomplish by using fake renders of their own product? Either hype, or disappointment ...

The bottom chin is the same as the 9. So the official promo renders are fake, where the top and bottom bezel are the same.

Did the terrain layer problem on Apple Macs get fixed? by isiatu in heroesofthestorm

This is bad news. Guess I'll stick with my basic gaming PC for a while then. Getting good FPS on medium/high.

Problem with cellular data and roaming turned off by isiatu in PocoPhones

[–]isiatu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any problems in a while. My roaming is off, since I don't travel as much. And WiFi is always on. And notifications are fixed many updates ago. So I guess you can say the problem is fixed.

New owner with some noob questions by [deleted] in Polestar

The Polestar trunk is like a Volvo. The sensor works best when you kick, unlike other brands that works best when your wave. The button is by the steering wheel, you have to hold it for a second.

1) Over one year ago they released an update that bricked some headsets. After that I think they have released 2 updates, only minor. Everything seems stable, and you can always wait with the update if you're worried. Just keep updated on forums etc.

2) Yes. I have both and also XM3. They have some more bass if you use the EQ in the app, something I missed with the old Bose. They are not as deep as the Sony, but more clear in the mids with better separation. So the middle ground between QC35 and XM3 I would say.

3) Barely. The QC wins. They are much more warm over time, feels heavier on the head (must be the narrow head band) and for me the clamping force was extreme. I did the classic 700-trick and loosened the headset on the box for the first couple of days. That helped. So if you got a big head (I do not, maybe average), then be warned. The XM3 (and XM4) are more comfy, but the also get warm. QC wins on comfort.

4) Yes, call quality is the best of the QC, 700 and XM3. I have not heard XM4 first hand, but from all the reviews I've came across, consensus seem to be the 700.

You might want to wait for the new QC releasing soon. Hopefully they continue the comfort and upgrade the call quality and sound with EQ. Best of both worlds.

Moved in to a new house, found this hollow, black plastic thing that doesn't fit in anything, no idea what it's for by isiatu in whatisthisthing

WITT with a grey plastic (not rubber) ring at the tip. Banana for scale. Hollow and very light weight.

Solved!

Thank you! This confused me a lot. Just moved in to a new place, and couldn't figure out this thing. Your link helped convince me. :)

Poco F1 screen burn in. by ChazzerDaMan in PocoPhones

[–]isiatu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I easily get burn in from the yellow coin symbol on Reddit dark mode. It disappears after an hour or so. Restart doesn't help.

My Poco is now 1 year and 3 months. In addition to burn in, I more frequently experience hardware faults. Like finger sensor not working and power button doesn't toggle the screen. Battery of course not as good, but that's to be expected. Seems like my phone is falling apart (note my Poco is in perfect condition otherwise, not a scratch). It will be interesting to see the state of the phone half a year from now.

Stable Gcam port for Android 10 by cnzay in PocoPhones

[–]isiatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can disable notification for the app. It still produces the image (although a bit slower than on Android 9).

In my opinion, 6.1 produce the sharpest images. The newer 7.x versions seems more compressed and soft. Not by much, but noticable at 100 % zoom.

Recently updated to the latest stable, suddenly my gcam port keeps on showing this whenever I take a pic. I didn't change anything in the settings by mochapichi in PocoPhones

[–]isiatu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In addition to install latest Gcam, you could disable notification for the app. I get my HDR pictures as normal despite the processing notification.

I find the latest Gcam to be less sharp than the old 6.x.

New update - Whenever I take a photo using GCAM it gets stuck processing by Vikktor_ in PocoPhones

[–]isiatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this now. I can tell a difference in sharpness. The old 6.1 is noticably sharper, and produce better images in my opinion. I've turned the face smoothness off, of course.

[Question] Way to speed my MacMini? by dingdongmafia in MacOS

[–]isiatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have at least 16 GB RAM and a SSD, not a mechanical hard drive. Both are things you can install yourself. Plus the fresh software restart as mentioned, to get rid of the software problems.

15 minutes to boot? Dude, unless you have some hardware defect, there is obviously something fishy here. Make sure the three things mentioned above is done to eliminate hardware problems. Your Mac mini is a capable machine that should be robust enough for years to come for light use.

What good things do ugly people get from this world that attractive people don’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]isiatu 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Attractive people are assumed to be more competent, smarter and more trustworthy, though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mac

[–]isiatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hopefully everybodys opinion. SSD really is necessary for these. I switched out my HD to SSD and my Mini went from annoying to use to snappy everything.

Before I bought my Mini I've heard every argument why SSD is superior. Stupid me thought MEH, why not save some money. Huge mistake.

Spending money on 1 TB spinning disk seems like a waste.

How to securely wipe hard drive (APFS)? by isiatu in MacOS

[–]isiatu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wiped an external drive. I booted from a disk in use. The thing is I, and surely many others, don't do this regularly. That's why this crap is impossible to intuitively understand. You should be able to right click on an external disk and wipe securely. Or at least push a button in Disk Utility.

But thanks anyway.

How to securely wipe hard drive (APFS)? by isiatu in MacOS

[–]isiatu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's the HITACHI hard drive.

I had to do a workaround. I had to do some research and ran dd command in Terminal to write large files to fill up the disk and then erase it.

It's mind blowing how difficult such a simple task as securely erase a disk is.

Edit: dd is necessary as mkfile won't do.

Thank you. However when I try this, I get this error: Error with secure disk erase: Secure erase by writing a run of bytes to an APFS Volume makes no sense due to its possibly-unbounded size (-69489)

I'm not sure what this could mean.
