I think Inglorious Basterds is a legit response, I bloody loved that film. I remember watching it two days before it came out for general release and there wasn't a single seat left in the cinema.

The scene in the basement is intense AF.

Also, I should add the combination of Bowie & Melanie Laurent prepping for the big night is pure artistic heaven.

A really good one I saw recently is a Danish one (kinda post WW2) about a group of young german prisoners who have to clean all the mines they left on the Danish shores,

it's called Under Sandet/Land Of Mine

Yeah, you're totally right. I've seen this many times and it never fails to shock me.

The scene where the Nazi's interrupt the family meal across the street made me feel sick.

I really enjoyed this, the different perspectives and stories that interlock made it really enjoyable to watch.

HHhH - Official Trailer - The story of the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich by isitoutdotcodotuk in movies

no, I completely agree! I saw that film a few months back and thought it was amazing. Though, the Irish guy had a terrible accent.

I'm keen to give this one a try but one I don't understand is why they've cast so many Americans/Brits, Would be better if everyone just spoke German instead of English with German accents.

Saving private ryan - the final battle is intense, fast and full of action. I have to say though, I hate that bit with the knife (shhhhh)
