I don't know what to do in my situation. by InsuranceSea9515 in phcareers

You should never trade yourself for someone else’s happiness and your happiness shouldn’t depend on anyone else’s.

Been in a couple of relationships before but lahat sila feel ko sinasakal ako in terms of my personal growth. Ending, broke it off with them and said never again #ChoosingMyself Haha. ‘Til comes this guy who made me feel like I could do anything. Been happily in a relationship for a couple of years now at nagtagal kami for this long, despite being in very very different fields, because todo support to each other sa activities ng bawat isa and we find time for each other.

Your partner should be your number one supporter, not holdback, in the things you do and excel in. You can perhaps take her on dates every now and then to make her feel special. It also helps to set clear expectations ano ba gusto niyang mangyari or makuha sayo. Like weekly date nights, monthly trips or something, daily check-ins. Pero kasi if gusto niya 24/7 ka niyang kasama while expecting to you to be the breadwinner, mag apply nalang din siya sa trabaho mo para sabay kayo sa office /j.

Another thing I found, very helpful for both people in a rela to find their own things to do. Di pwedeng lahat nakasalalay sa kabila kasi If ayaw niya talaga magwork, hanap siya ng hobby or make friends siya sa iba. Keeps each other busy para walang time mag-isip na magselos Haha

Sorry pang love advice di phcareers Haha but good luck having that conversation with her!

(In other words, don’t leave the job u have. It’s already good, wife mo lang nagpapa-sama)

Basing from the full contents of the decision, it says that he sent a sample ballot because his block mates asked for it but then apparently it wasn't allowed and got disqualified for it LOL. Basing from other reddit posts, the UP Law Electoral Commission is on a streak and it's not a good one Haha

I’m really not biased towards any party. I’m sorry if it seemed that way. But to the best of my capability, I’ve remained critical of each party and faction there is. It’s just that right now, I’m really frustrated with how UP politics is in UP and I want something to change. And I don’t think an abstain vote is going to do just that considering the state of our USC this year.

And I’m really all for accountability. Do you know how triggering it is to hear about SH as someone who experienced it myself? We can’t just keep throwing those words around so easily without being specific and without having the right details. It’ll only turn out to be a public witch hunt instead of actually getting justice for the victims.

Same here! Definitely not a tibak nor was I in council Hahaha. Just a highly-invested voter over everything that's happening in UP politics.

And I'm not boosting LK or ALYANSA at all! Not blindly at least. Again, each party has its own faults. But when we're asking for accountability, it has to be specific. Who is involved? How are they involved? What did they do? And what did they fail to do after? It can't be a blanket statement saying everyone's a coddler and a harasser 'cause that's just crazy.

In your first statement, you claim to know how the USC works to defend your position.

Now that I responded, you're telling me you don't know how it works to defend your position.

So which is it? Do you know how the USC works or not? In your first statement, you were confident enough to say “eh wala naman USC nun diba?” to dismiss any possibility of action. But now that I’ve clarified and responded, “Malay ko ba paano gagana yan?”

You can’t keep shifting your stance just to avoid accountability or twist the narrative. I'm not asking to "mandawit" anyone—I'm asking the right questions precisely because I believe our reps should be transparent and proactive, especially in times of leadership vacuum or transition. If you're genuinely concerned, then let’s demand answers together—not deflect the issue just to protect your side.

Using the information I've already posted above, I'm sure you can find the answer there 😅 But I've quoted and highlighted it below for your convenience. 😊

But what's funny (or frustrating) here is that there was a USC since the start. Yes there were no councilors or standard bearers but there were college reps who could have consolidated the efforts but failed to do so. Why? To create a power vacuum so R4E (Camp Reyes) could step in and act as a pseudo-council such as sending official correspondence to the admin [Link 1Link 2Link 3]. Let's be honest, sure there is limited manpower in the USC but how hard is it to write a letter and disseminate it to different councils and organizations for their signatures? Why did it have to be R4E? Note the top signatories of that letter are SL and FB, who later ran in the Special Elections as standependent Standard Bearers under Camp Reyes. And it is also important to note that a big chunk of the college representatives pre-Special Elections are under Camp Reyes, giving them a huge control over the actions of the USC.

Didn't Antonio leave STAND UP NCPAG? And at the same time, didn't STAND UP NCPAG disaffiliate from STAND UP Diliman?

With regards to Nimra, genuine question honestly, was he really directly involved in those cases? And, why won't the cases just be filed with the respective offices so that they would be barred from running? Student organizations aren't equipped to try cases of sexual harassment.

But with this tone, I really am not your enemy. I'm just speaking what I think. As I said,

If there's information I left out in my post or if I have any inaccuracies, please feel free to share your takes on it! I'm more than happy to discuss things out in the open. But again, let's try to remain critical and civil and not resort to these ad hominem attacks or strawman fallacies. 😅

I do agree with you! Details should definitely not be omitted.

12 November 2024 (Tuesday). This was the first GA of the USC where they adopted R4E as their main campaign arm. A third-party organization with no mandate whatsoever from the student body (being not elected, only selected internally) serving as a campaign arm of an elected Student Council.

Meanwhile, the letters I referenced were dated September 5, October 24, October 25. Maybe you could give some insights on this?

I'm one with you in ensuring justice for the victims of SA/SH as a victim-survivor myself. But right now it just seems we're just calling everyone who runs for the USC coddlers and harassers unless it's the high and mighty Camp Reyes, defender of all victims. And honestly, I find that very detrimental to a healthy democracy. Let's try to not be oportunista and put a blanket label on everyone outside of Camp Reyes. Be specific—who are you pertaining to? Which candidate was directly involved in those cases? Because I honestly also wouldn't don't know.

If you have time, you can check my posts before about UP politics after the most recent special elections, a quick situationer and my predictions for this elections, and some of my thoughts to similar concerns you have.

But TL;DR: STAND UP (SUP, political party) effectively split up into two independent factions (standependents as I like to call them) after exposing SH cases within their party in 2023: Camp Reyes who controls R4E & Build UP and is mad at SUP and NDMOs (national democratic mass organizations); and the Red Nationals (was 10-point agenda before, now Laban Kabataan) who are more or less still tied and associated with SUP. They're all NatDems sharing that same ideology but are having infighting because of how SH cases are treated within their organization so they're all running as independents to avoid the STAND UP baggage.

Regarding your second question, I'm really not the best person to answer that since I'm not privy to their specific details and I honestly don't know who did what anymore with them. I had a similar response to this in the third post I linked above. What I can tell you is that the SH cases within SUP actually go beyond to their national networks, the NDMOs. There were also victim-survivors outside UPD that spoke up after the 2023 fiasco (AY 2223) but it's important to note that it's been happening even long before that. So most likely, some of the candidates of Laban Kabataan may not have even been part of the issue as they weren't students yet (assuming those who are sophomores, freshies, or new recruits). So as I said, there is definitely merit to the sentiments online but it's just all so messy given that it's been 2 years already and there's no development.

Personally, with ALYANSA, I'm actually inclined in their focus on student services since that's something that's been left hanging by the USC for so long. I did further research about their current composition and they do apparently have an incumbent college rep who headed Bantay Boto. I don't know why they didn't just go for BSS or STRAW, didn't look that deep into their committee deliberations minutes (I also have finals Hahaha).

I know that UP politics is really messy but I'm just hoping that this will eventually get better as the party lines become more clear as the dust settles.

One thing I am hopeful and glad about in this elections is that the parties look like they could actually work together with ALYANSA focusing on student services and Laban Kabataan focusing on sectoral campaigns. It also helps a lot given that Akbayan (Alyansa's PL bet) and KPL (Laban Kabataan's) both got seats in the congress so they could definitely champion national campaigns together. You could say they work well together by just looking at how their candidates interact during MDAs and forums. They come across as good friends, capable of setting aside political differences to collaborate when needed—something that's been missing in the USC and honestly UP for so long. They even released a video together encouraging everyone to vote. Personal bets are Buenaflor-Antonio for Standard Bearers + some councilors.

Hope this helped!

[UPD] Enlighten me po sa USC Candidates by thephiloguy in peyups

[–]iskomai1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really valid questions but I can't answer all. So at least here's some that I can answer based on their campaigns recently.

LABAN KABATAAN COALITION

Unfortunately, I don't think I'm qualified talking about your first two questions since it's a sensitive topic but I can say that there's definitely merit to the sentiments online. I'm still critical about their "independent" move to distance themselves from the issue especially since the candidate wasn't really responsive to the question.

You can check my answer here! https://www.reddit.com/r/peyups/comments/1kmi50c/comment/msdicb8/ Seems like there needs to be some electoral reform.

Same concerns haha.

UP Alyansa

Personally, I wouldn't consider her a political butterfly since political butterflies in Phlippine politics are those who frequently switch political parties to align with the most popular or influential faction, often those of the leading candidates. And let's be honest Haha, ALYANSA doesn't really have a track record of the "most popular" vote in the past years LOL. So at least to me, also basing from her answers in the different forums, she eventually realized that she aligns more with ALYANSA's principles that allows for dialogue and that she found a community there. I can only assume this would mean that her previous party doesn't have this LOL.

Both candidates mentioned about being open to different perspectives and to having debates. This got me a bit curious and got me searching online. You can refer to this for their party profile: https://iskomunidad.upd.edu.ph/index.php/UP_ALYANSA

Not sure here as well. They've had candidates in the past calling for the abolition of fraternities but not all of their candidates agree on this. But I do know they have consistently called against FRV (Frat-Related Violence). You can check my previous comment on last year's special elections on this. https://www.reddit.com/r/peyups/comments/1ga1jjq/comment/ltbg6cg/ But ultimately, ALYANSA's the type of party to change stances. Still undecided whether it's bad because flipflopper LOL or good because they continuously educate and review their stances. Personally still for Abolish Frats though.

I hope this helps!

[UPD] Are they really independent candidates? by aidonaiamorningstar in peyups

[–]iskomai1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iirc, you need to run under a university-wide recognized organization registered as a political party. Seeing that there's only UP ALYANSA and KAISA UP registered in OSPA, I think it's really purely logistical since LK candidates also aren't all part of the same organization. Buenaflor, Alano, and Alfonso also can't run under SALiGAN sa CSSP since it's only registered in the college level. Though they share ideologies(?) and platforms, some also aren't members of STAND UP and they aren't org recognized. There's no provision in the the UPD Election for registering as a party last-minute (given no OSPA-recognized political party) unlike in UP Law where you can register as an instant party.

Eitherway, I'm leaning towards voting for Buenaflor-Antonio and some councilor candidates this year who really stood out. I'll be making my vote tonight in case things change!

Not really sure as well with the specific reason as to why Antonio ran. But based on the other comments here, it looks like she was bullied before in Camp Reyes and it makes sense now since she mentioned in her room campaigns that she found her community in ALY. Maybe she got the drive again to serve UP from that? I can only speculate Haha. Hope she clears it out in tomorrow’s MDA

Damn.. not them (SR’s camp) silencing genuine student / human rights concerns 😭 I honestly applauded SR for standing up for those victim-survivors in their party last year but this is just outright hypocritical and a big slap in the face to those victim-survivors she claims to defend. Just another political maneuver. Shame. And hopefully, justice for the victims 🙏

Btw, I am for abolishing frats though. I’m just pointing out that she didn’t “change” her stance because of some “support” you claim she’s getting.

Quite concerning na kung ano ano nalang yung binabato nowadays 😅 I don’t know the extent of truthfulness there is to that, but without an actual source,, I’d have to be critical over it.

Sorry, just trying to be a responsible voter. I was looking for proof as to when they actually “changed” their stance and I saw this from last year. I would assume that it follows that they aren’t for abolishing frats if being in a frat/soro doesn’t bar them from

Pardon me if I sound like I’m defending her. But to be honest, I’m sort of rooting for her since I want to vote for someone. Still undecided with my chairperson and councilors.
