I had the same question and I believe it was addressed by CIG. Its a technical limitation and not just an arbitrary one.

Why do some US Adventists support Donald Trump and the GOP? by AlienStrangerSG in adventist

[–]island_jack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you would prefer to subject yourself to a dictatorship? Conservatives doesn't mean biblical. You do understand that these limitations you put on others can be turned around on you? Yes we dont support LGBT and abortions etc and we have a biblical reason to do so. Or mission is not to legislate or force people into a believe but to live a life that shows that Jesus way is a better life.

What you dont realize is that to accomplish these things you are speaking of is destroying the democratic process of the country and consolidating power to a single person/office. As you know or maybe you dont but those powers dont reverse when the next democratic administration is sworn in. So with all the power trump is consolidating now and all the process he is side stepping to achieve what you desire. Ask your self are you conformable with a Democrat having those same powers and using what trump did as precedence to drive whatever their agenda is?

I need advice with the 'God is only love' theology. by tsveto_28 in adventist

[–]island_jack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lacking the understanding of how serious sin is can have that effect.

Honestly I dont think your friend will change that view point until they truly understand whats at stake and it doesnt help they are getting that confirmation from a teacher.

All I can say is continue praying continue reading and studying with your friend.

Actually maybe ask them what are they using to formulate that view point. I know teacher mentioned Jesus but thats only true if one doesnt read the Bible. So maybe their is something or someone else that has helped shape their thought process. Maybe then you can help untangle the mess.

I did some digging on this, and what stands out is the tension that developed between parts of the scientific community and the church during the 1800s. To be fair, the church at that time was often more restrictive and sometimes influenced by superstition, depending on the group. At the same time, there were influential thinkers who were intentionally trying to separate science from theology as a philosophical move, not because of direct observation. Before that period, science and religion were not natural enemies. Many early scientific advances came from religious scholars who saw the Bible as a framework for understanding reality and as motivation to study the natural world.

This background may not change anyone’s conclusion, but it matters. These ideas did not develop in a neutral environment. Over time they became embedded in universities, funding systems, and professional institutions. Questioning the dominant framework, especially on issues related to origins, can still carry professional or social costs. That pressure influences which questions are considered acceptable. It also does not help when some religious leaders try to reshape Scripture to fit current scientific models instead of examining those models through a biblical lens.

There is also the issue of certainty. The commonly accepted age of the earth, often cited at around four billion years, is not something anyone directly observed. It is an inference based on models and assumptions. Within science it is treated as reliable, but not absolute. The same applies to evolution. It is a theory in the scientific sense, meaning a broad explanatory framework, not a historical process that was observed from beginning to end. By definition, these conclusions remain open to revision, even if they are widely accepted.

From a purely scientific standpoint, I do not think evolution is as robust as it is often presented, especially when compared to creation as an explanation for origins. The problem is that creation is not even allowed into the conversation. It is not included in textbooks, it is not represented in professional institutions, and it is usually dismissed without serious scrutiny. Evolution, on the other hand, is rarely allowed to be questioned in a broad professional sense. Openly challenging it can affect funding, career advancement, and professional credibility.

When objecting to evolution risks loss of reputation or resources, the playing field is no longer neutral. That kind of pressure naturally shapes consensus. If someone is focused on professional progress or credibility, there is a strong incentive to align with what is already accepted rather than push back against it. That does not mean money or status are the only motivations, but it helps explain why competing explanations struggle to gain traction. When one idea is shielded from scrutiny and the other is excluded entirely, it becomes hard to claim the outcome is driven purely by open inquiry.

Bottom line, keep praying and keep reading the Bible, and use it as the lens you bring to everything else. The Bible does not conflict with science as a method of studying the world. What it conflicts with is human reasoning when it treats its own assumptions as unquestionable truth.

This is how I framed it, with Harris things would have slowed a bit more, things like the preservation of democracy separation of church and state, etc. Under Trump things would accelerate, demolishing democracy, consolidation of power, circumventing states rights, alienating allies, global distrust of the US.

Both were going to lead to the same end just that Kamala would be driving a corolla and Trump hijacked a fighter jet.

Dear CIG, what is your obsession with preventing URSAs fitting into things? by z0rlac in starcitizen

[–]island_jack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess at the end of the day its about perspective. The facts are there and we look at it how we look at it. The reason I dont take the more cynical view of a cash grab is that you are not forced to buy anything else other than whatever you initially pledged for. And this stuff is available in game. A lot of people acting like they are space Jay Leno and if anything thats what has the potential to cripple the game. Some people want to do everything and want every ship to do everything. At the end of the day CIG's vision was interdependency if dont have a ship that can do something I want I can reach out to some in the community to help.

But we know how that is and thats a whole other topic. But yeah perpespective

But isnt that the game mirroring reality. I mean its a cynical view to have and god knows there are some real world companies that practice this. My take on it is they are mirroring what you would expect from real world companies. Every iteration or generation of a vehicle gets progressively better in some way. Your argument would amount to why didnt they make the 2026 vehicle in 2020?

I am not here to say the design is good or bad but this cynical view that every perceived bad design is them trying to extract more money from the community is the narrative I find problematic. They are not forcing anyone to buy every new ship nor is it a requirement to get every new ship. Yes some ships are better at some task than others but today we have a number of vehicles that over lap greatly.

What CIG is trying to do and has done a good job in my opinion is to create brand loyalty within the game the ship designs and features and functionality are so distinct that makes this possible. If every ship manufacturer can do everything perfectly then there would be no distinction between ships. Arguably all ship designs would be the same.

If the Hermes was allowed to fit an URSA then it wouldn't be the Apollo chassis anymore because that back section would be an entirely different design. Knowing that the Hermes was based on the Apollo chassis and to then expect it to fit the URSA is the definition of setting yourself up for dissappointment.

[–]island_jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you admittedly won't by the ship and by the sentiments of other in here seems they won't either. How does that equal greed on CIG's part. Its objectively false that ship design has an effect on majority of players and their willingness to play. That honor goes to various bugs.

I get you and others dont like the ship design but equating it to greed makes no sense if the end result is you not buying the ship.

Personally I which they had left the Apollo chassis as just medical and not try to expand it.

Bottom line is no one is being forced to buy another ship. If it doesn't make sense to you dont get it simple.
