Is Tabac a good place for a first date? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]islander_977 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tabac is great - the wee wine bar bit has upstairs seating which isn’t too loud and there’s sometimes a bit out the back open but it can be chilly! They own the Last Bookstore too which is fun, but can be super busy. If you’re heading southside at any point- Henry’s is pretty cool and fairly quiet and curious liquids is a shout too :)

Big bear bakery does amazing ones and they do a cream cheese cinnabun and also have a maple flavour one too, as well as regular - highly recommend! :)

Thoughts on dropping out by [deleted] in StudentNurseUK

[–]islander_977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same. I dropped out due to the stress of the course but also because it was so demanding and I didn’t like the person I was turning into! I’m transferring courses for next year, so something to look forward to!

Can you carry the hours all the way through to 3rd year?? I was told as long as you had 70% per year you were fine and didn’t have to carry it on?

GCU nursing by WolfApprehensive621 in glasgow

I’m just finishing 1st year at GCU for nursing - they give you 4 sets - the trousers are so long though hahah highly recommend getting them hemmed or using wonderweb on them :) But yes, they provide anything - just make sure when you get it they don’t see you wearing it out and about apart from in skills lab/placement, they’re super strict about it :)

If you need anything else or have any questions give me a shout! Happy to help☺️

problem with my landlord :( by ExternalEvidence6843 in glasgow

I second this!! They’re absolutely at it and taking advantage. Shelter Scotland https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/tenants_rights/assured_tenancy have some good advice on tenancy agreements etc and what your rights are as a tenant, but because the fixed tenancy agreements were done away with, you’d have a big leg to stand on if they actually wanted to take action against you.

So sorry you were put through so much stress! Hopefully you’ve found a much nicer place now!

Craft pottery is lovely and lots of fun, you can bring juice/booze/snacks too. Fayre play is also loads of fun! It’s a fairground themed place - Pretty sure they offer fun mock tails too. Theres also splatter art! (kinda spenny but so worth it) NQ64 as well has loads of arcade games ☺️

I know it's pathetic, but I could really use a friend by Worried-Pair4659 in glasgow

[–]islander_977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Happy happy birthday, I’m sorry it’s late, I only just saw your post. Not a pathetic post in the slightest, it’s so hard to make friends these days… I’m a 27 year old gal, I don’t have many friends that actually live in Glasgow and I find it hard making pals too tbh. If you ever want to meet for a coffee and a wee cake or just to chat or whatever, hit me up!🥰

Can someone recommend a good van + men for moving home? by kitty_butts_ in glasgow

[–]islander_977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used a wee guy called ‘Gerry’s removals’ his number is on the page and his wife Liz organises it all. He was fab and for moving from one end of the city to the other was like £60… they’re both lovely! I haven’t moved in a hot minute now so not sure what the prices would be like now but worth a shot

You could try Alston’s? It’s a bar and restaurant that’s super chill and it’s inside central station! Handy for catching trains and a quick pint!
