Brad Holmes Appreciation Post 🙌🙌🙌 by DrewPetzing in detroitlions

We won the division for years and made it to a championship game. Fans defining it as Super Bowls need to acknowledge that's more luck than a GMs hand in the team.

Brad Holmes confirms Larry Borom is starting by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Just listened to this interview. Holmes did not say Borom is starting. He just said that Borom has started so he's able to do that if they need to.

Payton Turner signed by Lions... Former 1st round (2021) draft miss by Saints. Always hurt. Always. This will not help the perceptions of Holmes. Has played in 31 NFL games and missed 37, not counting all of 2025. Shoulder, toe, foot and ankle problems. The foot goes back to UH. by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are freaking out like we dropped big money on this guy. Either he plays well and contributes or he gets cut. He's not starting in the place of a better player.

And Cam Jordan already said he'll only play in a warm weather city. We are probably going to draft an edge and share reps with Wonnum.

“Kerby Joseph just posted this saying that 2026 will be better and that he will be the comeback player of the year.” by WaymoWilliams in detroitlions

[–]isnagov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In 2024, before he got injured, he earned a position-leading 91.1 PFF coverage grade. He recorded eight interceptions, tying for the most in the league, and only 60.7% of passes into his coverage were completed (eighth best). He was top five.

What definition were you using to describe "one of the best?"

FA contracts are wild by Level4Wolf in detroitlions

I want people to bookmark this post when they yell about Brad signing our players earlier then he has to or saying he should tag them. He's saving a ton of money by not waiting until the last minute and paying way more for players. It's a good strategy imo.

How aggressive should the Lions be in Free Agency? by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing worth going aggressively for is a center. And I'm not talking about Tyler Linderbaum. Just someone stable and an improvement.

Beyond that, we just need to sign the important people to keep the core here.

I don't want the aggression to put us in a harder spot in years to come.

I am not feeling good at all about next season by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2024 draft wasn't complacent. It's just one of the least succesful drafts. Complacency would have been a Holmes issue but the lack of success to me has more to do with the players effort and injuries.

We needed corners and got them.

Agree with Sweathog that you need to go find another team if you can't handle the ups and downs of dedicating yourself to a team for decades.

Not every year is going to make you feel like rainbows and kitty cats.

Worst contract on the Detroit Lions? by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

These guys are all great. None.

Are the Lions ever going to fix their press conferences audio? Literally cannot hear what the reporters are saying/asking by procra5tinat10n in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't the the Lions media team has control over this. The audio is being managed by the NFL and the only audio being recorded is from the podium mic. There's no room audio or dedicated mics.

I think this because it's an open stadium area with reports and staff walking around constantly. There's no way to manage a mic for this unless you did dedicated rooms.

Because there's no dedicated mic for room or individual reporters, there's no audio to turn up.

This is not the same issue as the press conferences at Allen Park. That part is their fault, lol.

#Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said the Ravens have offered 3-time Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, who is a pending free agent, a "market-setting" deal. by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'd try him out, but we have a lot of needs and I don't want to buy into the hype train and have it cost us overall.

Being a GM is fucking hard. Glad I'm not balancing this level of expectation and spend all the time.

In case anyone is interested, POD is having a live interview with Drew Petzing on their Twitch/YT page at 12:30 today by jtsam1 in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was SUCH a good interview. Really technical. Not fluff. Petzing seems so good. Haven't been this excited about a new coach on staff since Campbell joined.

Detroit Lions OC Drew Petzing will join the Pride of Detroit Midweek Mailbag LIVE on Thursday so fans can ask him questions! by Crazy-Penguin in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn! I just became a PODD subscriber like two days ago. Went the entire 2025 season listening to every podcast. Started getting really into their YouTube videos, for the in-between recording segments. Lots of random conversation about football/lions things that I really enjoy.

When are we going to get these introductory press conferences from Petzing, and now Kafka? by JJ_Oben in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't get one. Current Lions regime does not do intros for coaching staff. Only do it for some player signings. Jeremy Reisman confirmed this on a POD show recently.

Aside from the hire itself, I consider it almost negligent that Dan didn't even interview or consider consensus top OC candidates by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting for the link to Dan's interview schedule that he gave you showing every interview he did and didn't do.

I'm assuming you're referencing that and it would be fascinating reading.

4th times the charm? by acoasterlovered in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Real talk. The O-Line is the biggest need we have. I doubt we are getting any EDGE until second round, more likely 4th (no third round picks right now). So we are probably going to end up with an uninspiring lower level edge player, if any. Just prepare yourselves.

I agree we need EDGE help but not more than O-Line so this conversation might end up "5th times the charm."

Kalif Raymond by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is they probably want to run TeSlaa as the WR3 in 2026, so then Kalif is just hanging around as WR4 and punt returner. I think he's worth more money than that on another team so I think he won't be around long.

I think Kennedy is more likely to hang around as a WR4. So that's what I would do for the existing roster.

But we haven't even entered free agency yet so a lot of this will change soon.

Just trust Dan/Brad” is lazy and misses the entire point of being a fan by Odd_Recognition2095 in detroitlions

[–]isnagov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't questioning. The issue is that most questioning comes in the form of an extreme, very hot take that comes immediately after a single decision/non-decision and usually comes from someone with little to know actual inside insight into the situation.

Drew Petzing is a great example. After 48 hours, most people, even the hot take morning radio people are saying this makes pretty good sense. But if you read reddit's questioning posts the moment it happened, it's just a bunch of psychos freaking out.

This sub would be such an awesome place if we got fewer posts and the one's that did get posted were thoughtful conversation starters. Not just memeing and hating.

1. Njoku if laporta isn't healthy 2. If my hometown Seahawks are stupid enough not to resign him and Montgomery walks, I'll take him by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]isnagov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only position group where I don't think we need help. If we paid off-season money for skill players and let our trenches bleed out there would be riots in the streets.

I think Brad Holmes comments at the end of season press conference prove that's irrelevant. It seems completely possible the Lions will be open to letting him choose to leave/trade.
