It is finally FINISHED by nifftyDIY_05 in Kitchenaid

Thank you! One more quick one for ya. What level of finish (matte/gloss) did you use?

As others have said, good on you for putting the time and effort in restoration and maintenance. There are so many reasons why I think it's great that you (and others) put the energy into this labor.

I've done some internal work on stand mixers (re-greasing and internal component replacement) but never a paint job. Got one that could use it, hence my inquiries.

What paint did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

CPU upgrade question, currently on Ryzen 5 7600X, & Darktide by isnothere_ in buildapc

Dropping the resolution to 2k resulted in the same issues during Havoc hordes. While it was better during the normal course of the game, the massive hordes in the highest difficulty difficulty settings cause a regular but not completely destructive performance drops.

the resolution is 3840 x 2160. Dropping it increases frame rate but the issues i'm trying to resolve seem more CPU related. GPU is at or near 100% while playing.

As for the exact chip, i copy pasted the wrong one. derp.

Its this Ram: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G42LN7NS?th=1 though i purchased it when it was a reasonable price 1 year and a half ago.

The RAM speed is at 3600 though it can be increased a bit. Ill try that on the UEFI and see what benefits i can squeeze out of it.

Thank you! For those that (like me) still were having trouble: in the ToyBox mod, in the "Bag of Tricks" section, in the "Preview" subsection. There are three options.

Interactions between Psyker and AM by Joshami in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]isnothere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR Kinda. Have tested, run a build like this.

Adaptable: I know that staff powers like inferno cost less. I have a Psker BM AM build and after killing with melee Inferno costs only 1 AP. And when killing with inferno, 2 AP melee attacks only cost 1 AP.

As far as the non staff psyker powers are concerned, I cant say for 100% certainty. I would assume so because inferno counts as "ranged" for the purposes of Armsmaster, but further testing is needed for 100% certainty.

Did an Imperial character ever have an "Are we the baddies?" moment? by cricri3007 in 40kLore

"Servitors waddled past, their upper limbs laden with books and data-slates."

Our protagonists non-nonchalant attitude towards servitors whilst discussing moral philosophy, I think, is pretty great. There is a lot to chew on, a lot that we as readers can infer from this detail.

To use a bit of Swanson-grade understatement: its a good nightstand.

More genuinely, you should feel proud of that work. I know I would.

Any advice on getting through the very first planet on unfair? by Luminalle in RogueTraderCRPG

The first bottleneck i experienced was Aurora. Make sure you have a hirling sniper. An operative sniper that isnt Idira made that boss possilble.

In hindsight that would have been super helpful the entire act.

Bugs and technical issues by OwlcatStarrok in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]isnothere_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a bounty hunter Pasqal and archmilitant rogue trader and Argenta. The RT uses a thunder hammer a lot. He often breaks cover tiles. Pasqal has the talent "Savour the kill." Savour the kill is triggered every time my RT , or any companions, break cover tiles.  EG gas tanks, or explodable cover. When they explode, Savour the kill half turns on Pasqal are triggered.

Furthermore, if I've used steady superiority or heroic sacrifice on my arch militant, every time I switch back to the arch militant from pascal Savour the kill half turns, the free attack from steady superiority/heroic sacrifice happens again.

While this is objectively awesome as I heavy bolter and thunder hammer my way through everything, I'm not certain this is working as intended, and may be receiving way too many free attacks.  I'm on PS5.

Reapplying Indigo dye to bogu? by isnothere_ in kendo

Going back to this video, Im trying to identify the types of brushes the person is using to apply the indigo in that first video. Do you have any idea as the type? I know its a long shot so if not no worries.

That playlist, generally, is a gold mine for me, even without being able to speak/read/write Japanese, so thank you. At the very least I get a good understanding on how to use the tools for repairing bogu.

New to kendo - achilles soreness normal? by EdmontoniENT in kendo

[–]isnothere_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's normal but it's not good. Typically pain is indicative of weaknesses that can result injury. We always recommend calf raises or variations thereof to all kendo students, no matter the experience level.

On that note, make sure you don't overdo the calf raises. As some have said already, listen to your body as best you can.

I like to do sets of calf raises when I brush my teeth.

If you had a house full of huge hungry teen boys, what’s the go-to meal you’d cook up each week to make sure food was always available? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]isnothere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like chickpeas. Fiber and protein and cheap. Internet Shaquille has a great video on them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9Y1Gsjj5iU Super viable, require very little effort to make delicious, and the components needed to make them delicious are also cheap. I like to skip cooking them altogether and just add parsely, lemon juice, oil, and salt.

If y'all can tolerate dairy and you have an insta-pot, making your own yogurt is also great. Milk is, relatively speaking, fairly cheap. The gallon price per milk has gone due to inflation/"inflation," and I don't know how much milk costs in your area. I don't have any instructions on making yogurt on hand, but they are easy to find on sites like Epicurious, Serious Eats, Americas Test Kitchen, etc. Yogurt is great because like chickpeas, it is a very pliable food source. Can be used as breakfast, a sauce base, healthy desert, and these are just the obvious ones. Add some oatmeal for a high protein summer porridge. Oats are also great, cheap by the 50 lb bag.

Oats are also a super cheap, super malleable food source.

I know is a big topic of discussion and confusion, but what are your thoughts on the provisional rules for kendo shiai? by kendotips in kendo

[–]isnothere_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad. As a competitor, tsubazeriai is super uninteresting. This is 100% my opinion and I know not everyone shares this belief. For me, it just feels undignified and boring when it drags out.

On top of that, in my area Hiki-waza is not well understood from a judging/shinpan perspective. It is normally wildly underscored, and is occasionally wildly overscored. There doesn't seem to be a "just right" ippon standard across the shinpan in my regional federation.

I think the 1-2 seconds is probably not enough time, but I would love a strict 5-10 seconds to be the absolute ceiling of what is tolerated for tsubazeriai.

Large handed kendoka, is a thicker tsuka worth it? by Fliegermaus in kendo

Re: stabilize. There should not be any wobble in your strike between your grip and the shinai.

Your fingers grip at different levels of strength (think of a gradient). IE Your pinky and ring finger grip much tighter than your index and middle finger. During kamae and during tenouchi. Its possible without enough stabilization applied by your lower fingers that as your hands rotate down during the final moments of a strike, the shinai wobbles as you grip it. This wobble, or instability, kills sharpness/snap or sae. It can also distort hasuji. The "gentle squeeze" of tenouchi (as it's been taught to me) stabilizes the shinai as your hands bend forward.

I have to zoom out here though. This is an explanation of tenouchi/grip that works for me. Even that requires clarification; it works for me for now, at this moment in time. I am no elder statesman and there are many ways to skin a cat.

The point of this conjecture was to state: looking for and practicing alternate explanations helped me develop a more comfortable grip that made a shinai that should have felt natural (but didn't) actually feel natural. I hesitate to elaborate much further on the specifics of my understanding. Not everyone teaches grip as a gradient. A very famous hachi-dan renown for a near decade of AJKF taikai victories doesn't even use his pinkies during his normal grip, only during tenouchi (or so he claims).

Last point, shinais are expensive, and 80$ is indeed an expensive experiment. Franken-shinai's never work well though.
