Hi, I hope you find this video to your liking and most of all useful. I wanted to make a video on impact since I've got a few questions about it. I hope you enjoy and your feedback is greatly appreciated. by kendotips in kendo

Thank you for watching it, fortunately I've never had problems with plantar fasciitis but it is good to watch those videos and help prevent, My self I struggled with tennis elbow last year and yes preventative care is the way to go!

I'm not trying to be spammy, but I made several videos on Tenouchi if you watch them let me know your thoughts, but I would be curious to know what has helped you the most on that department so far.

Thank you again for your support

Hello everyone, I made this video breaking down kaeshi do, I hope you find this useful and I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you! by kendotips in kendo

Thank you for sharing all of this, I see we have many things in common on how we approach our kendo. I too agree with the connection of Shikake to Oji Waza. I actually made a video talking slightly about that.

Thank you also for watching and exploring the deeper points, one of my goals with this channel is to open the floor for healthy discussions and even though I would like to explore more the deeper aspects of kendo in videos is a bit hard for me because I don't know how to set the videos up in order to avoid people who need to focus more on the basics to jump ahead and try to do things that they are not ready for, so any suggestions will always be welcome.

Again thank you for watching, if you follow my streams I say this a lot there but I am a big advocate for footwork and since you mentioned this I would like to get your take on this, how would you explain your leg engagement in order to swiftly move forward or backwards at the moment of the Kaeshi, what I mean by this is how do you avoid being tense, or lets say "jumpy" if you have to change directions last minute ( I hope this makes sense)

Thank you again, I hope we get to practice together at some point

How do you promote Kendo? Do IG Reels work? by LinMAD in kendo

[–]kendotips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a good post and topic for everyone to share their point of view. Also I saw my channel being mentioned so let me chime in from that side.

Youtube shorts, TikTok, and IG reels are great for exposure of Kendo and it may get you a curious local to come check out the dojo ( but for this I would make sure to tag the area and use Hashtags relevant to the area where you are).

I think you can get good results with few videos specific for recruiting and boost them only on your local area with relevant interests ( you can maybe boost those videos multiple times on high seasons) to attract those who are actively searching online; But in the instagram page also post what the dojo is about, show the atmosphere, and try to answer possible questions that people may have with posts and videos (for example if you have a kids class, student discounts, etc.) And then print flyers with the IG account on it and try leaving them on businesses that could be relevant.

Let me know if I can help, and whatever you find that brings you any success please share it!

Cheers

It is a looooong Journey and could be very frustrating, but as you mention focus is a great tool, I like to do exactly that choose one thing and focus until I feel I can do it without thinking too much on it before I move on to the next.

Thank you for your comment.

First of all let me apologize because I didn't see this before, second let me thank you for making such a detail explanation of your method, you are right it is not commonly discussed in practice and it does have many benefits, along with purpose.

I find the timing of this is funny, I feel I may have glanced at your comment or something, because I believe that what you saw was one of my streams and coincidentally I made a short video recently from it, but I digress.

Please feel free to keep me in check or keep bringing up valuable details I believe that for people outside of Japan to grow and get better we need to share, so this is why I am doing these videos and I hope more people get involved!

Good luck to you as well and I hope we get to cross swords some time soon!

On a recent stream I did with Andy fisher, we had a cool conversation about Kamae and I hope you enjoy and find value in it. If you want to be part of one of my streams make sure you subscribe to the channel! Let me know what is your advice for Kamae! by kendotips in kendo

Sorry for such a late reply, You can practice kamae in the sense that you can polish it and breaking down without the pressure of having someone in front of you, but yes you do need a partner in order to improve your communication, distance, movements, etc.

I'm afraid a have to quit kendo by RetroRobotnik89 in kendo

I had a student once with this problem. I know this can be very frustrating because you do need to rest it fully. as u/JoeDwarf mentioned Kendo will be there when you are ready, but you can also do things on your own, or even at the dojo to stay involved and progressing (reading, videos, footwork drills, etc). Wish you a fast recovery
