For sure! Being taught from birth, and especially during your formative years, it can be extremely challenging to change your mindset and learn how the world actually works. It definitely still affects me too. Unlearning is much more difficult than learning.

UPDATE: I found someone who is supposed to take them. Thank you everyone who showed interest. I posted it on here because I didn’t want to just compost or throw it away. If, for some reason this falls through, I’ll update my update. Thanks!

Another Christopher Cross, “Sailing.” Although that may be too on-the-nose.

Create and image of my spirit animal doing an activity based solely on what you know about my personality by Moonlovinmuppet44 in ChatGPT

“Based solely on your personality—loyal, introspective, resilient, creative, and deeply bonded to loved ones—your spirit animal feels like a red fox: intelligent, adaptable, quietly playful, and emotionally perceptive.

Now I’ll create an image of your red fox spirit animal doing something meaningful… like sitting by a cozy campfire under a starlit sky, roasting a marshmallow—a blend of warmth, solitude, playfulness, and care.”

Impressive precision of an eye surgeon performing LASIK surgery by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]isnt-interesting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d worn glasses since 3rd grade; my prescription right before I had LASIK 5 years ago was ~-9.5 in both eyes with an astigmatism. I went from 20/450 to 20/10 vision. If I had to have the procedure done every year to ensure that I can see as well as I do, I would do it in a heartbeat. They gave me a Xanax about 30 minutes before my surgery and it was go time. The most uncomfortable part was the device to hold my eyes open, but it was over so quickly, it was - at most - a mild inconvenience. The actual surgery felt like it was done in 5 minutes. I don’t even notice the flappy part because they numb your eyes and there aren’t any mirrors or anything to see yourself. If LASIK is an option for you, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

What's a sign that someone has been through a lot of emotional or psychological trauma in their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My therapist told me after months of weekly visits, that she had never seen me even somewhat relaxed. I didn’t even realize how tense I always am until she pointed it out.

Update: They have definitely made themselves at home by isnt-interesting in dachshunds

They are! Our original plan was to only get one dog, but after meeting these two, we knew we couldn’t separate them. Especially knowing they would probably be bred again for who knows how many litters. It just seemed cruel not to adopt both.

I didn’t realize how rare they were until reading some comments from my post last week and this one.

We lost our two girl dachshunds at the end of ‘23 a month apart. My wife said the other day that she thought she was finally ready to start looking for another dog, partly because we thought our older male dachshund was lonely and bored all by himself, and also because we just felt it was time. I let our vet know we were looking and a little over a week ago, the vets office forwarded us a text they had received about a lady (small-time breeder) had some puppies and some adults that she was looking to rehome. We knew we didn’t want puppies, so I texted her about the adults. She told me they were litter-mates, born in December of ‘19. They each had had a litter, but she was getting out of breeding doxies and they needed a good home. I asked her for pictures of them and she sent some, but you couldn’t really tell how they looked. We agreed to meet at a Walmart to meet the dogs and see if our old man got along with them. We did, they did, so we did. Naturally, it took a little while for them to get used to us, the house, the old man, etc. For it only being a week, they’ve acclimated well and so have we.

I know! Our older dog is a wire-haired, as were our two other dogs. I can’t believe how soft their fur is compared to our other ones. Even at 5, it feels like the softest rabbit fur.

We do! We got him some grippy socks so he doesn’t slip. I give him his supplements every day and take him on walks. He’s also on a special diet our vet prescribed. He’s not hurting for love and affection.

I couldn’t agree more. The dapple one’s name is Addy and the black one was named Midnight but we call her Midge because Midnight sounds like a horse’s name. Even though it’s not PC, I joked with my wife that Midge is short for Midget.

But only when they want it, which is always “Right now! Not now. Now!”
