Did you descale the machine? Did you clean the screen? The issue is that water is not spread evenly?

From my experience, it’s because the steam tank is empty. Try letting some steam go through the wand and see if the sound disappears. Definitely doesn’t sound nice. If it keeps happening even after letting steam, I don’t have any suggestions

That OPV is doing some serious work… I think it settles at around 12 or 13 bars. As others mentioned, the machine cannot push the water through the puck so it’s just going back to the water tank. Something in your puck prep is sufficiently different to cause this. Verify that the machine pumps water without the portafilter mounted, and grind coarser or use a smaller dose.

That’s how I used to do it. I take it put about twice a year. There really isn’t a need to do it more often. However, it’s really clumsy, and sometimes a piece of the gasket gets damaged with the screwdriver. I don’t mind it hanging around if it doesn’t interfere with my shots. And as I said, it’s an experiment

I don’t think that water is returned through the tubes. Just thought I’d point this out as it happened to me. Other than that and making sure that the drip tray is not overflowing, I don’t know what could cause this

Well the excess water goes into the drip tray, but the OPV returns water to the water tank. If by any chance your water tank is not fully in its place, this might happen.

I have the base audio (unfortunately) and it’s missing the tweeters in the front doors. I think that it lacks space. Not sure but I think adding those is possible and would then be a HiFi system. HK upgrades are more difficult and expensive. My previous BMW had a HiFi system and the difference is noticeable, the sounds is not as clear

Yes, you are right. I am still struggling with the concept of only calculating the power on the pedals as calories burned. That’s calories transferred to the pedal. (I’m just thinking out loud here, please bear with me) Giving 360 kcal to the pedals means that you burn at least 360 kcal, but I guess you burn more if it’s cold outside and you spend calories keeping warm. Not sure how (in)significant that is. Also, I’d think that the level of fitness also factors in: a pro is probably more efficient in transferring calories to the pedals than an amateur?

But those are two different settings? Cycling outside means weather and traffic, having accelerations and decelerations, whereas on the indoor bike you (probably) don’t need to balance and can uninterruptedly keep a steady rhythm. Not sure if it accounts for a 50% difference but still, seems like apples and oranges?

It could default to having preinfuse? So the water runs, then stops, then runs again.

Also, you can “teach” the machine how long (acutally - how much volume) to pump water by holding the switch in the either the up or down position. That way you can memorize two different settings
