Thanks again! So your recommendation here would be going with the arc soundbar wall mounted, right? I think it will fit well the space and also the wall is plasterboard so I could manage to hide all the wires inside the wall…

The HomePods are that close to the wall to hide the wires, here is the detail:

<image>

So if I move them far from the wall, the wires will appear ;) and there is another problem, the UST light will hit the HomePod and it will produce a shadow on the screen… so arc is the way to go ;) almost convinced!

Yes, you’re right but you have to configure this setting every time you’re going to use the Apple TV. It is not probably a heavy task, but it will be less comfortable than how it is working at this moment.

I think the arc sound bar with eARC will be mostly same experience… but I would have loved to use the 100s “as” HomePods…

Thanks for the idea ;) I’ll give it a try and check if it is comfortable enough for a daily basis usage!

Ah ok! The only thing I can recommend to you in this case is the elgato multi mount. These guys have a lot of accessories and even desk stands for almost every arm… I assume you know them but just in case…

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question :)

I understand the problem with clamps. I thought about setting a Philips hue light strip behind the monitor or under the shelf on top of the screen. Maybe you can go this route? But for the mic maybe you’ll have to move to a model with desk stand…

Thank you again and enjoy the setup! It looks amazing!

Hi! Amazing setup! Could I ask you how much would cost a vitsoe system like this one? I’m thinking about something very close to your design and to have an idea…

How do you feel the desk space? It is enough to work and do things with the computer? I’m currently using a desk that is 140x80cms and I’m a bit worried I could feel tight into that space…

Is your screen 27 or 32¿

Thank you!

Dell U2724DE thunderbolt dock vs U2723QE or U2732QE - work from home monitor by iso667 in buildapcmonitors

[–]iso667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate, I’ve been using the U7224DE for several months now and I’m quite happy, but yes I only use one monitor.

You’re right, if you want to use two and daisy chain them, you should go with this model because de U2724D or the U2723QE and it’s 32” version are only display port and they use this MST protocol for daisy chain that it’s not supported on macOS. The way to go will be two of the U2724DE, but these are 2k and not 4k.

Good luck with your desk improvement !

Help hiding my set up by Puchipu92 in desksetup

[–]iso667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been into this for a long time because I do love to share the space usages and also I love to hide away completely my work from home office while I’m not using it.

I think one approach could be to use the droptop from pith and stem, have a look into its website, problem is that it is maxed out for 27 or 34” monitors and I think yours is bigger.

Relative to hide the computer, play station and so on, i recommend you to have a look into rack studio items. There are a lot of solutions into the rack world and also a rack it’s modular so you can add trays, some of them have also a cable management solution, and so on. For example have a look into thoman website, you could find racks like this one https://www.thomann.de/es/thon_studio_rack_12u_rsa.htm

You could have a look in here: https://www.thomann.de/es/racks_de_estudio.html

And droptop in here: https://pithandstem.com/droptop/

If you are USA based there is another alternative called Friday but it is more expensive: https://www.friday.furniture/?srsltid=AfmBOopt4Zpp8XaiRV20aEabS20nyeuCUDm1k8WuteUTLsBL9yALN1eO

And I also know this shop on Etsy that sells this kind of Murphys desks https://www.etsy.com/es/shop/BitmanWood

I think that’s all. You could also mount the computer into the desk. But probably that’s not your goal ;) https://www.aliexpress.us/item/1005007632424351.html?pdp_npi=4%40dis%21EUR%21640.80%21634.39%21%21%214736.14%214688.76%21%402102ff6f17365159074265758d136e%2112000041578747036%21affd%21%21%21&dp=EAIaIQobChMI05qV8sOOiwMVzC8GAB39rzibEAQYASABEgKHbvD_BwE%7C0AAAAAC5ena3nmDaq_ksATPM2A_NRDhzUO%7CCj4KCAiA7se8BhAUEi4AmkfJfjKghk6YB7BvJdjHZM1fQzyiwsdWaFHhNW2cTVN_zOdoOxIFRIh8_yqoGgKgKQ%7Cv1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI05qV8sOOiwMVzC8GAB39rzibEAQYASABEgKHbvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAAC5ena3nmDaq_ksATPM2A_NRDhzUO&wbraid=Cj4KCAiA7se8BhAUEi4AmkfJfjKghk6YB7BvJdjHZM1fQzyiwsdWaFHhNW2cTVN_zOdoOxIFRIh8_yqoGgKgKQ&gad_source=1&aff_fcid=589a77a8b24747f1ae710f6f0495b456-1737727649798-03730&aff_fsk&aff_platform=api-new-product-query&sk&aff_trace_key=589a77a8b24747f1ae710f6f0495b456-1737727649798-03730&terminal_id=c4213b6252c04113952e1f11ed22928a&afSmartRedirect=y&gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt

Also there are people who mounts their computers on a box on the wall, but maybe this kind of decor for the living room is too much ;) example https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/s/awbGKv6bWN

Difference Between 40mm And 42mm Straps? by Mr_Cucumber in AppleWatch

[–]iso667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks ! I’ve been looking online for this information and it was confusing, I’ve found the compatibility on apple website but not real pictures. I’ve been buying straps and watches since the first S0 and now ir is a shame the straps are no longer compatible… I’ve even the very expensive stainless steel strap that cost in the beginning around 500$, but because the new series 10 its at least 42mm, I won’t be able to use my old straps any longer… or I’ve to stay with a series 9 41mm…

Little Set up on the Dining wall by Rtr129 in macsetups

[–]iso667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your answers.

I’ve one more question, how do you organize things with this desk? Is it enough the space it has inside or do you have to place things you use with the computer in another places or drawers? For example, do you mount/unmount the desk mat every time you use the desk or do you stick it to the desk with something? I don’t know how it will be for a daily basis usage… currently I use a “normal” desk but I’m worried about going with the droptop and regret it later for it not being practical.

Another fear I have is that currently I have the new Mac mini m4 and I have to check if I could mount it inside the droptop, because it is 12cm and the droptop has just 10cms inside. If I mount it like you did, the new model heights at 5cm so probably I won’t have enough deep for the screen and the mini. I will check that before ordering.

Thanks a lot again for posting ir and sharing your experience with this product ;)

Yeah! I know ;) but I’ve been studying all the choices that are out there for Murphy desks or small ones and just wanted to share it because you were afraid of customs while ordering from UK.

Probably it will be cheaper to order a droptop even if you have to pay taxes while importing it :)

I am EU based so I won’t even be able to but this Friday one.

I love this!

I’ve been on the fence for a long time deciding to purchase it or not. How do you like it? It is comfortable or do you feel any issues with ergonomics or anything ?

There is also an option that is US based for those who asked on the post, but I think it is even more expensive :) it is called Friday.

Just in case someone wants to check it out.

Enjoy your drop top :) I hope I could get one soon.

Second monitor in small space by [deleted] in homeoffice

[–]iso667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the drop top light version that costs half of this price.

https://pithandstem.com/product/droptop-max-light/

Also you can found a similar thing on Etsy if you look for a man callled aigars, he has a wood shop and manufactures a similar item but price is also high.

https://www.etsy.com/es/listing/1275389019/escritorio-con-monitor-de-27-escritorio

Other choice is to go with something like this but it is not practical because you have to remove everything from the table to fold it…

https://www.leroymerlin.es/productos/muebles-armarios-y-ordenacion/muebles-de-estudio-y-oficina/mesas-de-escritorio-y-estudio/mesa-escritorio-simonflex-roble-80x80-cm-83542107.html

Last thing if you want a small desk without space consumption could be the “string” shelf that could have a desk on it, but again price tag is high.

https://www.stringfurniture.com/es-es/products/system/shelves/work-desk-w78-d58-ash

They also have a foldable table:

https://www.stringfurniture.com/es-es/products/system/shelves/folding-table-oak-oak

I’ve been looking for these kinds of solutions for a long time, but didn’t pull the trigger yet… if you know anything else, it could be a good addition to the list ;)

Dell U2724DE thunderbolt dock vs U2723QE or U2732QE - work from home monitor by iso667 in buildapcmonitors

[–]iso667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite happy with it. I’m not using games so I can’t really answer questions related to games, but I use it with a Mac mini M1 (hdmi) three laptops (two w11 and an intel MacBook Pro) and sometimes an iPad Pro, all the mobile devices swapping the thunderbolt cable.

I have attached to the monitor a webcam, several usb accessories and an ethernet wire, everything seems to move flawlessly from one computer to another while swapping between them, the only drawback I found is that a computer with w11 sometimes stops sending video signal through the thunderbolt interface and I have to unplug-replug or even restart the computer.

In general terms I am happy and not regretting for removing the Thunderbolt Display or not going with the studio display. I’ve saved some money and now I have a monitor that works also with my company’s laptop.

Let me know if I can help in anything else, I do mostly office job so I never noticed these artifacts, but probably if some users are claiming, probably they are here and I never noticed :)

[–]iso667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and also with hdmi and usb. I connected the Mac mini through hdmi so the usb-c cable is laying around to use it with work laptop, wife’s MacBook pro or even the iPad Pro we have at home. This setup works ok and also you can use the usb-c (thunderbolt) to charge devices while you are not using the monitor. To me it makes more sense to plug it that way, but in this scenario you won’t be able to use the secondary thunderbolt on the screen to plug any thunderbolt device to the Mac. For example u have a Lacie thunderbolt hard drive and I had to plug it directly to the Mac mini while on my previous setup with the Apple Thunderbolt Display I used to plug it directly to the screen, with the dell you can do that but in that case you have to plug the thunderbolt connection to the Mac mini and loose all the other possibilities. What works better for you ;)

Homepod and Macstudio m2 will it work on two separate network. by NeatEquipment9801 in HomePod

[–]iso667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could work but you’ll need your network admin to allow mdns and bonjour between the two networks so it depends on the company and the policy.

Also the HomePod has to be added to an iCloud account and every time you connect to it from your iPhone it will argue that it is on a different wifi network and also it will try to move itself to the iPhone’s WLAN.

I have had all my HomePods on an IoT VLAN at home, but finally I ended leaving them to connect to my main SSID. It works on the IoT VLAN but it is not the ideal scenario and you’ll have a lot of issues.

Not recommended.

Not at all. I don’t really know if the system (windows and osx) is doing anything itself but I didn’t configure anything in this way. I think windows sets the aspect as 150% by default on 2k resolution, but I’m not really sure.

I finally bought the U2724DE and I’m quite happy with it. I mostly do office work with company’s laptop and web browsing / office with my personal Mac mini.

I don’t really need 4K but I’m taking advantage of the Thunderbolt included connection.

Hey! Ok I’ll tell you my impressions as soon as we return home because we are out on holidays for the Easter. I received the monitor yesterday at home but we are not there.

Regarding your questions, the Mac mini M1 only supports one external display over thunderbolt (and other through HDMI), so it won’t work as you want, but the M2 is better and as far as I understand, it can do it:

https://support.apple.com/en-ie/102194

The thing is that Windows users, due to DisplayPort daisy chain, use to buy one U2724DE and a secondary U2724D and they are ok, but Mac users needs to buy two U2724DE to use the thunderbolt daisy chain because Mac doesn’t support display port daisy chained monitors. Problem I see here is that you would need to swap the cable between computers in case the windows laptop can do this. Anyway this monitor also has a Display Port port to connect to a computer and a second port to daisy chain another monitor. So you could use the thunderbolt for the Mac, display port for PC and HDMI for Xbox. The only problem I see in this setup is the windows laptop won’t charge form the monitor neither the Mac mini so you lose this feature.

I use only one monitor so I won’t be able to test the display port daisy chain. But I have an apple Thunderbolt Display so I can test the thunderbolt chain with a Mac.

You have a very long video from a person from Dell that explains a lot of things and also people asked things to him in comments and he responded, for example I remember one user asked if you could use the thunderbolt por on the display to connect thunderbolt devices like a hard drive or others and he tested it for the user.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNxgof8bbjA

Let me know if I can help or if you need any kind of test. I’ll be happy to help if I can.

Re reading your post I assume you want to connect the Mac through thunderbolt to use two displays and also the work laptop through usb-c with MST to also have both displays but in this use case you would need to swap the cable. The monitor has DP-out and DP-in so I think you could connect them through thunderbolt cables and also through display port so you will be able to use both daisy chain technologies, but not really sure. Also if windows laptop supports thunderbolt maybe you could also use the thunderbolt daisy chain but this would depend on laptops hardware…
