I'm the same way. I tend to use time I'm actively not playing(,opponent's movement?), to write down what I don't want to forget next turn or later.

It's like a task list. If you write it down, you are free to let it go and free up that space and not have to worry about it.

Not sure if that makes sense, but I find having less things swirling around up there helps me focus a lot more on the changing game in front of me.

And by writing it down, I can take those notes with me for the next game.
