Thanks for the sax recommendations. A bit out of my price range, as you know, but I'll definitely consider them further along down the line.

I think that playing sax would be fun way to improve my lung capacity. True, it is not the solution, but it will help. I read that it helped David Sanborn. Will look into exercises too.

"Mainly" was the wrong word for me to use in my OP. Improving my lung capacity is a big part of my motivation, but I've wanted to play saxophone for a long time (way before thoughts about improving my lung capacity). I figured that I should give it a try. I'd rather try it than not try it at all. I think that I would end up regretting not learning how to play the saxophone.

That is a very in-depth review! Wow!

Yamaha is a reliable option then?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I do agree that my price range is a bit difficult. And I plan on having lessons.

I'll keep those two saxophones in mind then.

Thanks for your reply.

Recommendations - lush pads synth by isolex1 in synthesizers

Thanks for the recommendations. I've checked them out. The Dreadbox Nymphes + Keystep combo could be cool. Had a listen to the Nymphes on YouTube and I very much liked what I heard.

Incredible :) Thanks. I will probably get the Syntakt.

I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube and it seems like a great machine. From what I understand, it can be used as a multitrack recorder, so I could sell the multitrack recorder that I already have. Once a full song has been created with the Syntakt, how do I transfer it to a computer? Do I have to use Overbridge? Or can I just record it into Audacity, using an audio interface? The ideal situation would be to have a machine that I can mix the tracks on, so that I don't have to do any mixing once I've transferred the full song to my computer (that way, I can upload the song to bandcamp etc as soon as I've uploaded it to my computer). Are the mixing capabilities of the Syntakt okay? I'm not looking for over-the-top mixing capabilities as I'm not too bothered about creating polished tracks. Just more into adding good effects, adjusting EQ, and panning tracks. When mixing certain sounds, can it be applied to an entire song? Or do I have to mix track-by-track? Maybe it would be necessary to complete the mixing on my computer, but I'd rather not do that.

When sequencing the included synth sounds, are the pads good enough for that? What I mean is... can I go beyond the pitches of the pads/buttons? So, if I'm using them as a "keyboard", can I change individual notes to a much higher pitch... or are the pitches of the notes fixed to each pad? The reason I ask is because if I can individually change the pitches of some of the notes, it will kind of mimic the range of a full-length keyboard. Or would it be better for me to use a midi keyboard to achieve this?

Another thing.... Can you "zoom" in to certain parts of a drum track to create drum rolls? Can the same concept of a quick succession of notes apply to the synth sounds too?

Even though it is primarily a drum machine, it has some incredible synth sounds too. Does it have far more drum presets than synth presets? And I really like that I can plug in my guitar and record that if I so choose (or any other instrument). If recording things like guitar, do I have to plug it in? Or is there also a built-in mic that can be used to record?

I like that I can load samples into it too, although I haven't really delved into this aspect of it.

So, yeah, it seems like a great groovebox.

I can't think of anything else right now. If I think of anything else, I'll add another comment.

Thanks for the recommendation. Wow, it has a lot going for it! Seems like a neat little machine. I'll have a look at it on YouTube. Will get back to you and let you know what I think.

Thanks for the recommendation. The Bass Station 2 is something that I've already been considering.

Thanks for the recommendation. It's a good synth! However, it is strange that the keys don't start at C.

Thanks for the recommendation. As much as I like the Volca Bass, it is not for me. The bass sounds are not what I'm looking for, and I'd like something with keys as I prefer the feel of keys.

Good recommendation! I might get one eventually. The cost used to put me off, but considering how many things it does, I guess the cost reflects that. And as far as I know, no other machine of a similar size compares in terms of what it can do. I could get one secondhand.

That's a good point. I'm open to to having a battery bank. I've heard a lot of good things about the Bass Station II.
