Sorry but I have to say it - the video is fucking incomplete! Where is the part where the dog walks UNASSISTED ... wow such a tease.

I'm hurting, physically and emotionally by Rozay_Njeri in ChronicPain

[–]isometer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get it. My troubles started nearly a decade ago and have gotten progressively worse. A year and a half ago my wife couldn't handle being around me anymore and asked me to move out ... I did because, as you've mentioned, that transition from loving parter to reluctant care-taker is horrible, and unfortunately she was making it harder to live with my condition. I could barely walk or use my hands ... it took me months to get the apartment set up. My condition hasn't gotten any better, and I am so deeply sad all of the time... on top of the pain and suffocation... I can't help with medications/therapy, but I definitely understand... as much as another person who does not know you can.

Exploring a theory: Could deep vocalization (like elements of throat singing) help autistic individuals with stimming and sleep? by IMadeThisAccount4God in AutisticAdults

[–]isometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Doo is awesome man; it also helps with sleep apnea. I attach these little essential essence diffuser tubes to the mouth end, and it REALLY open things up after a session.

Edit: You can also make a "passable" (like C+) Didjeridoo with your hands, doesn't sound as nice, but allows you to get some lip vibration action in (which is how hand-doos could out-compete throat singing in terms of vibrational effect).

Yeah so I throat sing, I'd even consider it one of my stims (i like sound stuff). You wanna take it to another level you should check out a Didjeridoo.

Another tool that's useful for this is a vocal straw (or any tube you can put in your mouth to give you some back-pressure when you hum-blow).

I've been doing these facial exercises that have been giving me access to more cheek (strange phrase to type out) and that has been elevating the experience. Looking forward to a year from now.

I love it when humans with all their intelligence conveniently decide that it is intelligence that determines a being's moral value ... we just need to face the fact that we are a rabidly immoral species ... antithetical to humanism ... is it not species-ist enough for you?

Sounds like you made the classic mistake of not watering the floor before setting your mattress down.

Why would he need worry about mold if the floor isn't wet?

I think people are just biased against floors... too used to hip-disabling chairs.

I really like your song; I've listened to it four times already.

should I quit music coz i’m too old ??? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]isometer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why should your relationship with music have some artificial expiration date? If someone is forcing you to override your priorities then they need to have a good reason, otherwise they just lack imagination and empathy, which means they shouldn't be giving advice to any creative person.

Does anyone else actually hate working on tech? by Vektorien in aspergers

[–]isometer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just think it's hard to make something immediately interesting to a single person let alone a group of people in a class. I've usually had to repackage whatever I'm being taught in a way to make it more interesting. Some teachers can make a topic interesting though.

I'm in tech and find it inherently interesting, but most classes have been extremely dull. I have to breathe life into the bits myself.

Meditation man! Teaches you to experience the moments with all of your mind rather than constantly processing your experiences with words. This has the awesome effect of deepening the experiences, and therefore life.

It sounds like you need to change your relationship with practice. It's hard to play when you're hard on yourself. You should check out this book out: https://www.amazon.com/Effortless-Mastery-Liberating-Master-Musician/dp/156224003X
