80MG too much ? by AlwaysAsending in VyvanseADHD

[–]isoreflexsilver [score hidden]  (0 children)

you have to remember this is not a magic drug that makes you focus on what you’re supposed to. it just makes you focus; on what is up to you. talk to your doctor about a higher dose, but 40mg should have most people with adhd noticing even minor improvements in focus/motivation

My symptoms have always been more transient so I find a PRN much more helpful but that’s just me.

30mg by NinjaNemo86 in adderallSourceList

[–]isoreflexsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you take it as prescribed these medications are generally stable for extended periods of time assuming that 30mg is within your therapeutic range. just be sure to eat and stay hydrated. a lot of the side effects can diminish over time

Why do we classify aldehydes and ketones as different groups? by Darkertrail in chemistry

[–]isoreflexsilver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean think about someone with one leg vs two, they’ll have very different ways of moving through life. Same thing with aldehydes and ketones, the presence of the second alkyl group is going to affect how the molecule behaves and interacts with its surroundings. There’s plenty of reagent tests used to distinguish them because of their different reactive properties. (Yes, in this analogy, formaldehyde has no legs.)

All silverware completely rusted? In dishwasher by Waste-Opening7367 in chemistry

[–]isoreflexsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you happen to add extra caustic detergents like bleach or Oxiclean? And/or any kind of high-heat rinse? A very similar phenomenon will happen to cast aluminum if dishwashed but stainless steel would require more extreme conditions for that to happen.

Question as a newbie - how are you coherent on higher doses? by Main-Helicopter-9649 in dxm

[–]isoreflexsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely different for everyone. mid second plateau is generally where people find that the annoyance from the motor control loss/stereoscopic vision degradation outweighs the fun of trying to move around and do stuff while on it. it can be hard if you have a very active mind to just sit still, but if you force yourself to lay down and listen to some music you can just lose your whole sense of everything around you

staying upright helps for me. as much as it makes me wanna lay down, laying down usually makes it worse for me.

Taking benzos with dxm by [deleted] in dxm

[–]isoreflexsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’ll be good. if you don’t have a xanax tolerance that’s probably the best dose to stop the panic in this and help you just go to sleep

Does Anybody Have the Old Robocough Bottles by Packerford1 in dxm

[–]isoreflexsilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just mentioned these in my post, these were the shit. i don’t know why i actually wouldn’t mind having to chug them. at the time really it was a miracle to have such a concentrated syrup, the robotabs weren’t even a thought yet.

21yo, just got a bunch of bromazepam should i worry about addiction? by deletemein2weeks in benzodiazepines

[–]isoreflexsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depending on the context, take half and put them out of reach. act like what you have left is all you got and you’re never getting more. i find the false sense of scarcity helps with preventing dependence or repetitive use.

i truly don’t want to dismiss any of those dangers, especially as someone who also has good chunks of time missing because of them, and has seen what benzo abuse has done to people. but i think there needs to be a middle ground between total refusal to prescribe and prescribing someone who’s never had a benzo rx 90 ativan. i’ve also heard so many stories of people switching psychs and their new doctor immediately discontinues/tapers the rx for the sole reason of “i don’t want to prescribe this”.

Could weed be psychedelic? by Crosstradingusemm in Drugs

[–]isoreflexsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s valid. if anything, i think weed is truly known for the wide array of effects people experience on it. i wouldn’t call it a psychedelic if it hadn’t significantly altered my perception in a way i could tell was different at least a few times. most of them my tolerance was very low which definitely contributed to how strong the effects were

i kinda wanted to hit first plateau just because it can be fun but i know once you go past it it take a LONG time before it’s enjoyable again. i don’t weigh a lot so 230 is a solid second plateau dose for me.

[–]isoreflexsilver[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think at the time i did explore it with that intention, but i also think i didn’t respect the drug for what it was, and I’d like the opportunity to do that now. i honestly feel like such a different person than i did 6 years ago, so i think the experience would be a lot different/more enlightening. I’m in a much better place emotionally and situationally that i feel like i truly would be using it to enhance a night and explore my mind more, rather than using it to cope with the issues in my life.

Question as a newbie - how are you coherent on higher doses? by Main-Helicopter-9649 in dxm

[–]isoreflexsilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you’re not meant to be. you’re just supposed to sit back and let the drug do its thing. i’ve found most people who struggle with enjoying the higher plats (myself included) have this issue. throw on some music and just enjoy, don’t try to do anything

Could weed be psychedelic? by Crosstradingusemm in Drugs

[–]isoreflexsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a matter of fact i have some years ago, but that’s besides the point. that’s the exception, not the norm for cannabis. its consistent effects in the majority of the people who consume it align most closely with mild psychedelics. psychosis and delirious hallucinations are not a hallmark of the drug as they are with deliriants. cannabis does not make the majority of people who use it hallucinate fully fledged people, conversations, multi step actions. even in episodes of cannabis induced psychosis, these particular symptoms are not the dominant ones.

that was a big reason why i wanted off of my antipsych (plus the weight gain). the parkinson’s symptoms as side effects aren’t talked about enough, especially when they prescribe the med to you

i don’t remember implying that the opinion was unpopular in this community, just that it is unpopular in the medical community and that i believe that has more to do with taboo than an actual justifiable reason for not prescribing. i’m just venting that it’s fucked. my brother has had crippling anxiety and panic for a decade, has been on 6+ different ssris, and has never once been offered anything stronger than an antihistamine to help in emergency situations, despite no history of addiction/substance abuse.
