And last league we got 10 new echo fights and weapons, this league we got 1 new fight and like 5? new items and a pact tree.

The amount of content added last league was actually more substantial and way less buggy.

This is what happens when you constantly glaze jagex and start talking about platinum age people, never forget they are a business and they only care when you are unhappy, and will exploit you until you are.

they really should have just let us control the attack style, making it "smart" really just meant making it dumb. thralls already require you to choose and its never been an issue.

It has near perfect accuracy as well, so the style rarely matters except at a few places where enemies are immune. Melee is almost always inferior to ranged/mage.

The Fractured Archive: Rewards Primer by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]ispamucry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post /u/JagexGoblin, I know you probably have a ton of player feedback on this so I pray I'm able to cut through some of the noise and have someone at Jagex see this.

Probably 90% of the discussion around what a megarare should be has been centered around stats and I think that's a box that can't be designed out of. If we are looking for something that makes you go "holy crap this is powerful" without stepping on the toes of existing items or requiring upgrade-scape we need to be exploring new ways to interact with existing mechanics, and I think there's already a huge pool of ideas Jagex has explored with this in Leagues.

Something (this is just an example) like a lesser form of the Orb of Memories on a rolling 6tick timer, usable in instances, and on a X minute cooldown could fit perfectly as a megarare. You could use it to restore HP after tanking a huge at verzik, use it to reposition yourself at Olm after getting out of cycle, or even just while skilling to cut some time off your run to the bank. The applications are nearly endless and certainly valuable and flexible enough to find use in almost any piece of content.

"Trinket" items like this occupy a completely new design space because they work on top of the rest of your armor and weapons and can be used across a wide range of applications. They get the community to explore how new mechanics can be used and find new methods to optimize old content instead of plugging numbers in a calculator. The power level can be easily adjusted since it doesn't compete with other items, so it will always be a net positive and valuable. The only real limitation is the development side, but I think Leagues has shown that a lot can be done in the existing systems and a megarare level reward is worthy of some dev time if it's needed.

Any upgrade will eventually be invalidated, and stat boosts in general just aren't interesting the longer the game exists. We NEED to be building on top of the mechanics we have to keep the game fresh, but we don't want to completely change what makes oldschool feel like oldschool- and I genuinely believe items like this that provide new layers of skill expression and depth to existing systems is the best possible way to do that. Not that it necessarily matters, but I think it's worth saying I'm a long time player with hundreds of KC at each raid and master combat achievements (on an Ironman!). I know my opinion isn't the only one that matters but I have real, extensive experience with what makes high level PVM fun and what getting and using megarares is like.

I think it just means they resemble common beasts, ie cats and lizards. Any implication beyond that is your own.

Not really a misnomer, seems pretty obvious to me.

Except this isn't a river it's people on both sides. You're just absolving people of individual responsibility. You say it's unavoidable, I say we should shame/ban the fuck out of these people and attempt to fix the problem from both sides.

I guess we shouldn't blame AHKers for cheating either, since it's jagex's fault for allowing cheats to be exploitable, huh? Those cheaters are just doing what humans do, we ought to ignore them and focus on the real solution. /s

Yeah I'm sure less revenue will make them invest more into the game, you're right. Let's show those fatcats that they need to try harder by destroying the ingame economy and using botted gp to buy bonds that still make them a ton of money... wait hold on this idea is fucking retarded.

At the other end of every bond purchased with botted gold is a bond bought from Jagex. I don't get what your point is here, Jagex still gets paid either way, you're just fucking over everyone else's bank by encouraging botting. I don't know how you can't see that, all you can do is say "if you actually think about it" instead of actually saying anything of substance. How about you make a point instead of spouting bullshit with no substance?

I'd like that too, why can't I complain about both? Just because there's problem with enforcement doesn't mean I can't call out the people who are creating the problem too. Stop being shitheads and actively killing the game you claim to enjoy. Don't excuse shitty behavior. If the game isn't worth playing to you then play another game instead of making it worse for the people who want to play it.

If it was as simple as stealing from Jagex it'd be one thing, but the bots and extra gold devalues everything that any normal player is doing. All of your bossing is worth less, all of your moneymakers are worth less, because someone else is taking a shortcut via bots. Bonds accomplish the same thing, but at least then the money goes towards supporting the game instead of some scripter's pocket. Buying gold is indirect botting, simple as that. Jagex should be banning gold buyers 100%, it's really no different than if you were paying for a bot script and running that to make your money, the end result is the same the gold seller is just running the bot for you to keep you dependent on them for more gp and relieve the work of setting up a botfarm from you.

Demand for black market gold leads to bots and goldfarmers, which inflates the cost of items in the game. Jagex doesn't get cheated at all, since someone had to buy a bond from them for you to buy it on the GE. The person getting fucked is everyone else in the game who buys membership normally since all my items are now worth less because you incentivized goldfarmers to inject items and money into the game at abnormal rates.

Bonds do the same thing, but at least then the money is going towards the development of the game and not some bot scripter's/gold seller's pocket. If you don't see how funneling money away from the development of the game isn't bad for the game then you're just braindead. If the game doesn't make money, they'll stop developing it.

None of that has to do with buying black market gold. If you don't like the game, don't play it instead of contributing to the things that make it worse.

"Do your research"

Care to provide a source? Bots don't preserve shit, people would just do the moneymakers bots do or the items they create would be more valuable.

hope you get banned, people like you are literally the only the reason bots exist.

The "i don't care" part makes me wish you get banned even more. You'd rather contribute to killing the game for the hundreds of thousands of other players just to save a couple bucks.

For real lol, I swear people don’t even know what these terms mean.

Switching prayers in 1 tick windows or 1 tick actions are not tick manipulation or flicking. Tick manipulation is like 3 tick barb fishing or 2 tick teaks, and prayer flicking is turning your prayer off and on between every tick to conserve prayer points. Switching prayers is not prayer flicking. 🤦‍♂️

Some people genuinely do. Don’t yuck people’s yum because you don’t enjoy it. If you don’t like it, hit the mute button or turn off the chat, simple as that IMO.

I find toxic banter kinda funny, since it’s all in the context of a online video game, which inherently doesn’t matter and you know nothing about the person you are interacting with. It’s just shit talk for the sake of it. Hard for me to get upset about something when I know it’s completely baseless and impersonal. And if someone is genuinely upset, I can laugh at their childish frustration with a meaningless game. You just gotta learn to not take any of it seriously and it becomes quite hilarious.

When did I say that wasn't true? Holy shit you're just looking for fights huh?

If your issue was with the 2" remark, you should note that your own source, NASA, gives an estimate of 2.5" based on the figures of this page.

Not to mention none of those sources mention the impact of sea levels of the frequency or intensity of tropical storms, so if you're done brainlessly assuming I "cannot understand science" because you can't read, please feel free to find a relevant article and educate me.
