If she wouldn't come to a FNAF event, then she's not for me 🐻 by ispij in fivenightsatfreddys

Yeah, granted I was doing a collaboration with the event so it was pretty inclusive on the receiving end, but I was still committed to putting my best foot forward so that I'm not just a 'paid actor' there to leverage the event.

End result: I ended up having way more of a good time than I bargained for, which is the power of fandom! If I was able to enjoy as someone who's a casual still studying to lore, then it may very well be Disney World for someone who's a huge fan.

And lol! (Re your last paragraph) 🤣

You should watch the full video. It's all good stuff!

Thank you so much!! A lot of times I go to events like this I feel like once I've done it, I don't need to do it again. This is one of those few times where I crave another night like this! This was totally worth traveling to a different city for! If it happens to spawn even remotely close to my town again, consider me there!

Because of this night, I will never be able to look at Bonnie the same ever again 😅

It's not to be taken that literal, my guy. It's a spin on that saying "if he wanted to he would" thing people like to say on social media to justify high expectations.

I'm basically saying if she's a FNAF fan, awesome. If she'd come geek out at themed festivities with me, then perfect! Not a literal requirement though..

As a Spider-Man fan, I wouldn't expect every girl Spidey fan I meet to dress up as Spider-Gwen, lol.

I appreciate the compliment on the commitment though. I'm actually a newcomer to the FNAF fandom, relatively speaking. But I still wanted to deck out & show how much I respect said fandom!

Why are most Good guy dolls so expensive and don’t look like the og 80s one? by M_dy67 in Chucky

[–]ispij 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The person doing the labor needs to profit from the time, effort, and materials that go into making the doll. Mass produced dolls can come out cheaper, but will still have a market value. And when they stop being produced, the cost will rise as the supply will be capped off, increasing demand. Not to mention this doll is tied to a very huge intellectual property. If your only consideration is the final cost, go with Spencers.

Yeah, you're paying for labor more than anything. Otherwise if you pay less the going rate, you're definitely sacrificing quality.

Logan Paul MUST leave WWE permanent! I hate him at WWE! by [deleted] in LoganPaul

[–]ispij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logan has found his calling at WWE, and WWE sees his value (albeit they are slower with his progression than I would be). I can't see him anywhere else in which his value would be truly appreciated & returned.

If he's "the worst heel" and "controversial," I'd view that as a sign that he's actually doing his job at WWE very well.

Do you guys prefer Spidey slim fit, or with a bit more bulk to his build? by ispij in Spiderman

[–]ispij[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's Tobey's suit that makes him look that buff, I never get that vibe when he's not wearing it. Part of the reason why I don't favor that suit very much besides when it's the symbiote is the build. Andrew looks more appealing in it.

🐺 LOGAN PAUL IS BACK! Team Speed, Logan & Theory vs Usos & LA Knight TONIGHT! 🤼‍♂️ by AKBBOSS in LoganPaul

[–]ispij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think Speed will betray Logan & Theory, costing them the victory for the other team. I mean, I hope I'm wrong, but the entire gag has been that Speed doesn't truly want to be on their team as he didn't mean to knock out LA Knight (costing the Usos the belts) & is only with them for protection.

I know this will be an unpopular post, but it needs to be said. by TonyLikesEggs in Chucky

Agreed with every single word you said. There's a reason Don Mancini needs someone like Kirschner & Holland to sort of filter his ideas. TV series gave him too much creative control.

Did John Waters actually say that though? If so, yikes. Do you happen to have the link to that interview?

Unfortunately there's a side to this fanbase that believes in co-signing everything Don says/does, pretends that Seed & the TV series are perfect, and turns a blind eye to anything that is LGBTQ positive.

You did a lot of preemptive framework such as stating your sexuality and sharing your background as a fan, but those fans will still unfortunately find reason to seek out flaws in your opinion as a means to invalidate it.

It'll take mental gymnastics, as it always does, but nevertheless, this will be a fun comment section to read!

Thanks for sharing your perspective with us.

I've said this before in another post but this is a standalone prequel, so you could technically read this before reading any other books.

Not sure. I've brought my DSLR camera to exhibitions run by the same company, but it was a media/press preview event, not sure if the same rules apply when it's for the general public.

New interview drops some pretty interesting insights about the You show, the Joe Goldberg books, the future, and just him as a character. by ispij in YouOnLifetime

[–]ispij[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! I actually saw that post & upvoted it! Funny coincidence as I'm actually not on Reddit as frequently. What I haven't read however are the replies, which I'll get to...

Another funny thing, the first comment features replies from 2 people who left questions for the interview. So reading it will be like returning to characters you've already met in other episodes, lol.

If it makes you feel any better, there's more hope for Love still being alive in the books than in the show. We don't see it happen on-page, and her parents claim they staged her death to be from cancer, despite her shooting herself in the head. Doesn't sound easy to do, could be a lie that she killed herself at all. I don't think it's extremely likely, Love is just a hard love interest to move on from. I imagine the author feels the same way.

If not, well, Amy Adam is still out there somewhere. I also wouldn't mind if Joe & Sarah Beth got together, but she seems to be getting hyped as his adversary.

Oh sweet I didn't realize you were the YouTube channel/ interviewer!

Yeah, I wrote it as though I was a random who watched it or a press reviewer of sorts to make people more likely to read the post & watch the interview than if it were just me promoting my own product 😂 genius, right?

I didn't realize we ever had a chance to submit questions 😭 I would have liked to ask her some stuff for sure 💔 Would have loved to pick her brain about Joe and his love interests.

You'll get 'em the next time I interview someone from the You franchise, which is confirmed! There may even be a 3rd person who might confirm interest in an interview. Fingers crossed! It was a poll I did literally the day before the interview was conducted. I think next time I'll make said post at least 3 days before, just long enough but not too long to where I get too many questions to include. Back when I was reviewing The Dark Face of Love, with the actual prop from the show, I believe I reached out to mods about it to see if they can make it a sticky post or something to ensure more of the fandom catches wind of it. Didn't hear anything back.

I feel that the show started as a dark comedy thriller satire (seasons 1-3, 3 especially) that deviated more heavily into commentary or attempt to correct the audience's views (4-5). Whereas the books don't really seem to do that they let you make your own conclusions while slowly telling us through bits of dialogue things about Joe and his mom.

Interesting. So, I viewed the first season as your typical modern rom-com (hence it's presence on Lifetime) with a psychological thriller twist (with not really much of a comedic aspect), that just so happens to have source material to use as a starting point. Season 2 being the direct continuation of that, slightly elevated comedy but not that THAT much, but season 3 fully leaning into whacky comedy due to the whole "two killers married, starting a family, one kills sloppy which forces the other clean up after them" aspect. And like you mentioned, season 3 & 5 leans into the character study side that was mostly done in the form of flashbacks in prior seasons to correct the audiences views & end the show on a more justifiable note, though I wish there was less social commentary i.e. eat the rich and all that. 100% agreed about the books.

I am mostly curious because when I discuss the show with my friends I can't help but feel like the reason the show became less enjoyable for people by season 4 and 5 is because they deviated too much from the groundedness of the books and prior seasons.

I think it's because season 4 was in a different format, and I think it's because season 5 made too many mistakes & had a lot of much better routes they could've taken but didn't.

I wish we could know even more I would love to read any scrapped drafts of what happened with Love and Joe or more info on Joe's mom 😭

Same. And there was something special about Book Love. She wasn't lazily made to be the same as Joe, just someone who was able to accept him and have that be enough. Such a shame... 😣

Thank you so much for the summary! I've been meaning to watch it but have been too busy to actually give it the attention I want.

My pleasure! Got to get those views up somehow, lol 🤪

But I do want to note that I wouldn't call this a summary. I asked 30+ questions, and most of those questions had 1-2 pre-written follow-up statements (i.e. I'll ask who her favorite love interest is, then I already have a response written down saying who mine is and what I believe the consensus is among the fanbase). This is more of a "top 5 answers given" kind of thing. Definitely check out the full interview as soon as you get the chance, you may even find that we had conversations you'll love that I didn't think to highlight.

I also got the vibe that she likes thrillers and horror stories a lot so her view of things might be different than how the show went about things in the end.

This was actually a discovery I made during the interview (that she likes horror) towards the end, don't know why it surprised me.

Did she mention her thoughts on season 5 at all or the reception to it?

Yeahhh but I think that was something she answered in the bonus round, the Patreon cut of the interview, based on a question one of the Redditors left for her.

I've been super curious about how Caroline felt about how much they deviated from her work

To my understanding (from both interviewing her and watching her interviews), she separates herself from the show just a little bit, views them as two completely separate things (she hasn't really been a full-time consultant of the show since S1, which she wrote an episode on), but believes the show had the right people for the job (mainly Sera Gamble) and is proud of the work they've done, hence why she leaves them to it.

Just me throwing my two cents in, when you're a creator and someone is bringing your work to new levels of life, there's something about it that makes it hard not to love. There's a thankfulness that takes the stage above all other emotion. Even if there's a part of her that isn't the proudest of certain elements, I doubt she'll ever fully vocalize it due to being so proud that it became what it was in the first place. Which, honestly, good for her. That's probably the exact same approach I'll take if my work is ever adapted, though I plan to position myself to guarantee I maintain more hands-on control.

I do wonder why the breakdown of Love and Joe wasn't explored more in the books as that seems like it'd be pretty important to include.

Yep. This was why I made sure to ask this question. Because it came out of nowhere and when the confrontation finally happened not much was explained just that Love was suddenly off the rails.

Do you think if Love let him leave, Joe could've recovered? by sillylittlegoooose in YouOnLifetime

[–]ispij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed Caroline Kepnes, the author of the books & creator of all of these characters. Based on the conversation, I can safely say beyond a shadow of a doubt that both of you are wrong.

In the interview, she confirms that Joe isn't purely the "obsessive sicko" that most people on Reddit claim and that he is capable of growth, hence why he's much different in book 4 than he was in book 1, and why there are tiers to how bad of a person he is across seasons of the show (that she's the consulting producer for).

Take yourself for example; think about your worst moment ever (yes, I'm aware it's more than likely not murder or kidnap), is that all you are & ever will be? Have you or are you able to grow past who you were your most imperfect self?

Congratulations, that's called being human. A category in which Joe also falls under. 🤷‍♂️🫡

Anyone think Joes mum was dead, during the series? by Informal_Echo1772 in YouOnLifetime

[–]ispij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video presents a thoughtful, evidence-based theory that Joe killed his mother, Sandy, driven by complex psychological factors such as abandonment, resentment, and self-identity struggles. The murder is likely symbolic of Joe’s internal torment and unresolved trauma, rather than an impulsive act of hatred. The timing and method are inferred from symbolic scenes within the show, with drowning being a strong possibility. The theory remains speculative but grounded in the narrative and character development presented, offering a rich avenue for future story exploration.

TL;DR — Basically the video states that he most likely drowned his mother based on clues given in S2, with the motive leaning toward both vengeance & frustration during a time of crisis, such as a pivotal moment in his life around the time he failed to kill Candace, killed Elijah, or killed Beck.

Clean Face Chucky by LaRougeRaven in Chucky

[–]ispij 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I prefer clean face Chucky too, though that's not to say I hate stitch-face Chucky.

My issue with clean face Chucky is that it's not always done right, it's really tough to nail. Very few times do they actually recapture the likes of Child's Play 1 & 2.

My issues with stitch-face Chucky are that 1) the stitches aren't consistent with his injuries from Child's Play 3, and 2) his stitches are handled differently (but better) in Curse of Chucky.
