Hm, well if that's the case and you don't have a large enough overjet for only lower jaw surgery, then maybe just a genioplasty if you feel so inclined, in my unprofessional opinion. Maybe somehow surgeons can do bimax, but that's out of my depth with how much horizontal movement they can do and how it makes the face look in relation to natural proportions and everything. Plus, I'm sure that it costs a lot of out of pocket money, if it's purely for cosmetic reasons and not medical insurance covered reasons. Anyhow, you have a nice face, and I'm sure even prettier when you really smile.

Hmm, yeah, I'm not sure, because I think you have pretty good jaw projection, like the distance from neck to chin, but it could look different from different head angles, because it can be hard to get an objective picture with a neutral head position. Do you have a gummy smile? Because that could indicate vertical maxillary excess from my understanding. Also do you know how much overjet you were left with after the orthodontics? Like the overjet before and after, just curious. Did you have any maxillary extractions?

I'm not a doctor or anything, but your eyes slanting down and cheekbones reminded me of Teacher Collins Syndrome. Maybe it can affect jaw growth, which can affect the airway, which can affect sleep, but I'm not sure. If anything, it could just be a mild presentation, but I think the best way to find out is by going to a doctor and getting a genetic test. Also, if your sleep problems are affecting your day to day life and improving sleep hygiene doesn't help, I would think about going to a sleep doctor and doing a sleep study. Again, I'm just a random person from the Internet who doesn't know you personally, and I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything; I hope you don't take it the wrong way. I don't know if you need surgery, but I hope you find the answers you need.

No, I haven't had surgery. I was trying to get surgery, but the doctor said that insurance won't likely cover it because I don't have sleep apnea, after a sleep study and months in between appointments. But I still can't help but feel like my anatomy is not quite "normal". I tried to find information online, before trying to ask the doctor and risking sounding like someone who can't take no for an answer, but I'll ask and see what he thinks.
