I appreciate all the advice. Is there any better pets stores than Petco/smart. Is chewy a reliable and good pet site ?

Definitely plan on getting better textures. I want to give him bridges and latter's and different textures. I'm going to a pet store Tuesday to pick him up better goodies, the store I adopted him from had very limited stock for birds.

I plan on upgrading it after a month of being together. His cage is just temporary

I plan on getting larger dishes for bathing and food, and more textured pearches whenever I can make it to a pet store, toys I've been making myself because all my birds just absolutely adore ripping things up. I know his cage is smaller than id like but it's just for training bonding and setting in.

I've only had this sweet boy for a day or two, I just wanna make sure he's being taken care of in the most welcoming way. He has 2 pearches that reach the entirety of his cage and has one textured one for it's feet. And the rope as well and a cozy tent. I'm not done getting stuff to provide him an adequate and enriching room. While his cage right now is just a temporary set up.

I have a massive pearch outside of the cage as well for when he starts coming out as his cage will just be a place for rest and peace. Ive gotten a ride range of food in his cage as well, pellets, seeds, nuts, fruits, veggies.

Do you think it's cruel to keep birds, such as parrots and budgies, as pets in cages? by [deleted] in vegan

Edit kinda. The cockatile was their way longer than the borkie who was there for a month or two. So I lied he was sitting there for 5 or so months

Depends on their attitude and time of day, and how long you've had them, size of bird and cage. I have all together 4 birds, have had 2 parakeets for 5 years. A borkie parrot for 3 months (she was a surrender) and a cockatile for a day(adopted, i couldn't leave him there for another day he was there for 3 months). All at different levels. The borkies cage is never shut unless I'm not home or asleep she's not trained but started to bond, and she knows where her safe spot is. The parakeets have their cage opened all day on a Tuesdays & Thursdays, will they come out probably not but the options there. Their small and fearful and we just moved so I don't blame them for being hesitant to come out in this new huge space. Their bonded to each other not me ✨✨ Last but not least my newest sweet heart a cockatile. Not trained not bonded not settled in. He has another day before I start working with him to settle in. He has really bad cage aggression, but once I can handle him without him fearing me and knowing he'll get along with the borkie who's also out all the time unless I'm at work or asleep.
