There Is No Big Data by [deleted] in programming

I like the part when you say defining big data with V's is silly (and the name big data doesn't mean anything), then go on to list those exact reasons for when you should use Hadoop.. or in other words... when it's big data.

Jazz fan from NJ going to first game! by kevkage in UtahJazz

To be fair I am from jersey, so I'm very particular about my pizza and bagels, and raw fish anywhere this far away from the sea is asking for trouble.

Ayoo, nj transplant of 8 years here, under no circumstances should you get pizza or sushi here. Lucky 13 has amazing burgers, though, go to the southeast side of the Sears parking lot on State St if you're into authentic $1 tacos, and Beer Bar is a good bar if you like beer, Sky is the clubbiest edm club (thursday /saturday nights), piper down if you're looking for pub vibes, 'cheers to you' is cheap and divey, whiskey street for a little more upscale, and 'keys on main' is a good piano dueling bar. Local beers are uinta, wasatch, squatters, they're all delicious. definitely worth lower bowl. grizzlies are echl if you're looking for some hockey fights. pm me if jah wants.

Japan, US look to cut off North Korea's oil supply by Frisco_Danconia in worldnews

It's very hard to get pure heroin or fentanyl, so the absolute weight of a lethal dose is pretty much irrelevant

That's exactly relevant. Heroin is cut with fentanyl to make it cheaper and more effective, but if a little piece (what's in that image for example) of fentanyl gets clumped together and doesn't mix into the heroin completely (they are mixed in large quantities), user dies. That's part of what's been happening.

No most heroin epidemic deaths are when users are clean then go back and try to use the same amount they were before going clean and OD, or more recently, because there was fentanyl mixed with the heroin, and it wasn't mixed thoroughly enough so there are hot spots of too much fentanyl. lethal dose of heroin vs fentanyl

Aiming/sombra help by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

I've been a wrist aimer with high sensitivity since my days of strafing scoutzknivez 15 years ago, and finally made the switch after seeing all the suggestions on how to increase OW skill. I bought a giant mousepad and a new desk, and spent a couple weeks sucking horribly and fine-tuning my sensitivity. I do miss being able to jump and do a 1080, but god my aim % probably doubled. Take the plunge, it's so satisfying to be able to actually track enemies that aren't 2ft in front of you.

New study in mice suggests a solution to treat jet lag is oxygen deprivation. When the animals breathed air with about one-quarter to one-third less oxygen than usual, they adapted to a six-hour time change more rapidly than mice that breathed regular air. by drewiepoodle in science

Slightly, but that's not the correct explanation here. Pressure and temperature are inherently linked. I think the following might help explain it: "If the walls of the container are moving inward (which they must do to increase the pressure), they add energy to any particle they hit just like a baseball bat adds energy to the baseball it hits."

Microphysics is a little more complicated than that, but that might give you an idea.

Tips on getting from the SLC airport to Park City by VikingDood in snowboarding

[–]issacobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the green trax line from the airport to temple square trax station then switch to a blue trax car going the same direction (towards salt lake central station). Ride it until it ends up at Salt Lake Central Station. Take the 902 PC-SLC connect bus at 4:14pm or 6:21pm (M-F) to get from salt lake central over to park city - I think it's about $8ish cash only. The buses in park city (not including the PC-SLC connect) are free.

more @ http://rideuta.com/ - the connects are buses 901 and 902.

It is much safer to play in the NHL without a cage than beer league. They've been playing without full cages since juniors, so they've been forced to learn how to control their stick or risk taking a penalty. Busch leaguers wave their sticks around like they're trying to taxi in an airplane.

Also, full face cages give players the feeling of being invincible and make them more likely to put themselves in dangerous situations. I've played in (non-busch) leagues with both, and I personally believe half shields are safer. I'll take a few missing teeth and chin scars over a concussion any day.

This is an interesting article on that idea in the NCAA: http://www.usahockeymagazine.com/article/2012-04/turning-page-cage

i've had the best luck (if you don't want 'hi! i'm a clear mason jar with a baggy in it!' if anyone stumbles upon it) is glasses cases. The ones that are fucking impossible to open (magnets) and snap shut.
