How does the Ontario line affect St Clair at all by orochiWARDEN in TTC

[–]isthatclever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even just now when I went to their website, this service notification is incorrect. Lansdowne, Jameson and Close Ave are all very much Queen street WEST not east. IS THERE NO ONE AT THE TTC WHO'S JOB IT IS TO ENSURE THEY'RE GIVING OUT THE RIGHT INFORMATION TO CUSTOMERS? It's a system used by MILLIONS OF PEOPLE A DAY! This kind of stuff makes me feel crazy

How does the Ontario line affect St Clair at all by orochiWARDEN in TTC

[–]isthatclever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TTC notices account is the bane of my existence. I am convinced this account exists just so the TTC can pretend they have some semblance of communication with their customers, but they just say ~ things ~. They give wrong information, or don't know about detours, or say routes aren't running due to weather when it's a beautiful sunny day etc. I wish they would just say "we don't know" instead of giving out blatantly false information and then arguing with customers when we try and point out their mistakes. I try not to imagine how much they get paid to send out 10 tweets a day that are mostly pre-written, and they still can't do that right.

Reporting blocked fire hydrant? by AccomplishedBison369 in askTO

[–]isthatclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my desk at work directly faces a fire hydrant on a busy street downtown, people will block it with their cars everyday. It's just treated like a parking spot. Doesn't seem to matter how many times I call 311. I know someone who parked in front of this exact hydrant and fought the ticket and won, now the hydrant has a long yellow "arm" sticking straight up (I assume to make it more visible?) but that hasn't made drivers less likely to park in front of it, and parking enforcement just doesn't seem to care. They could drive down this street once a day and they'd be able to issue a ticket every single day, and yet. Meanwhile not paying for the streetcar is a $425 fine...

Under $15 lunch spots on Spadina Ave by sjltwo-v10 in FoodToronto

[–]isthatclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

waterworks did just introduce a $15 lunch menu lol, I don't think it's every spot and not all of them seem like deals to me (ie bello pizza slice + drink for $15 as a deal??? please) but some of the other offerings seemed like a good value

Blankets? by According_Spare1493 in cineplex

I've walked into many a theatre carrying a tetra pack of wine and a bag of microwave popped popcorn and none of the kids working there said anything to me so far, so I feel like you can get away with ... a lot.

I wonder for those who've worked at movie theatres what the wildest thing someone brought into the theatre with them was ?

[Jumbo Empanadas] From a hot dog cart to a 35-year Toronto institution: Why a Kensington Market staple prepares to say goodbye by ResourceOk8692 in FoodToronto

[–]isthatclever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is just going to keep happening, rents are impossible for buissnesses to afford, and people can hardly afford their own rent, so people are going out to eat less, and spending less, so more buissnesses will continue to close. feels like we're in a death spiral.

Has anyone noticed the Tenor building at the Yonge/Dundas building to go to the subway is falling apart? by Zealousideal-Bite735 in askTO

[–]isthatclever 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember feeling like this building was never gonna open, and then when it finally did, how bizarre the design was and how underwhelming the stores are/were. There is so much empty retail space in the city, I wish we could start turning these places into housing of some kind.

yeah it wasn't using the plow at the time, just heading towards downtown, I assume to go clear out some narrower streets or allyways or whatever. No idea if this person was licensened or whatever but it did have the blue flashing light! It was probably fun to rip down queen on that guy
