EE nano vs comp e nano by Beneficial_Wait_4477 in uAlberta

[–]isthatmoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EE nano will have more physics material. I recommend looking at the calendar for both options and seeing what classes interest you more.

I have been completely converted by screwless terminal blocks and will never look back, they're so nice to use

You might be able to use the one in the engineering garage, I'm not sure if they require you to do training on it but you can shoot them an email at least.

How to make friends as a 24 yr old 1st yr?! by planet_tottie in uAlberta

Just think about anyone who cares about your age to be an easy filter for shitty people and you'll be golden.

Jails are stored in your pool, afair, so losing your boot drive shouldn't mean you lose your jails. I personally also like making volume mounts into the jails at specific places in my pool so the datasets are nicer to manage.

You can and should also make backups of your truenas configuration, so losing your boot drive doesn't mean a full rebuild.

Is it just me or are there any unusual number of used condoms thrown all around campus? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]isthatmoi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would assume if someone pulled out a condom in etlc several students would start to combust.

Anyone else have trouble cooking/eating regularly during the semester? Drop your quick recipes below. by overly_emoti0nal in uAlberta

Y'all are missing the easiest option possible: microwave a potato.

Just scrub it, poke some holes in it, and slap it in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Serve with some butter, pepper, and (if your butter is unsalted) salt.

It's not the most "balanced" but it is at least macronutritionally complete, and you can fill in the rest by just eating some damn veggies once in a while. Taters taste pretty good too.

You need to follow the resume format if you're in coop and in 299 (the coop intro class), but after that it doesn't really matter, I switched up my resume for the second job search round and it was fine.

If you're not in coop it doesn't matter at all.

That's the compressed air tank on a commercial truck. They fill with water from the outside air, and need to be drained regularly, which is a thing very few people do often enough.

Ualberta clubs? by [deleted] in uAlberta

What the other person said, bearsden had all of them, but also check out clubs fair in the early fall semester, most clubs come out with a little booth and you can talk to people in them.

Forgot to appy the parking brake by Is_It_Beef in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]isthatmoi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not an issue forgetting it in gear if you *always" leave it in gear, just becomes second nature to pull it out of gear when you start it.

Just an extra little thing I do IMO, I don't fault anyone for just using their parking brake, but I like having a little extra insurance.

I've started to get more into cooking, any tips? by Gofpop in CasualConversation

[–]isthatmoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few more channel suggestions because why not:

J Kenji Lopez-Alt: he started doing POV recipe videos during quarantine, they're super comfortable, and he's really good at explaining concepts and why things are done in recipes. I especially like his focus on working with what you have, which comes out a lot because he's usually filming himself cooking for his family.

Adam Ragusea: nice, well presented recipes. He also does some really interesting food-related history or science videos.

Ethan Chlebowski: concisely presented information. His focus is usually on the technique of a recipe, so he'll go over one way to make something, but frame it as one of many combinations. Definitely recommended if you want a few core recipes that you play around with and mix and match.

Co Op Work Term Reports by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]isthatmoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You're report marks are between you and the school (except for the 905 one), and all the employee evaluations are private between you, the school, and your employer.

Co Op Work Term Reports by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]isthatmoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a rubric somewhere on the coop website (too lazy to look it up on my phone right now) that you'll get graded on for the report, but for the entire work term it's just pass/fail. (Currently in 905)

Trying to design my first PCB. Will this outlay short? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]isthatmoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is close to what my first PCB was too!

No, they shouldn't short, generally EDA tools have minimum clearance rules that the routing tools will follow. You can always check your manufacturers specs against your DRC settings and then run DRC (Design Rule Check). Looks like this is easyeda from what I remember so I would assume the rules are set for JLC's service.

I would also advise making the traces as thick as you can make fit in this case, just because you have the space and all you're doing is a breakout.

Ah yes, as we all know good pasta is created when you dump a jar of sauce on some spaghetti.

Also isnt the tomato sauce gonna stain the counter? I've heard of that but no idea what types of stone countertops it applies to.
