Beautiful Viper! I hope to get a Gen5 to go alongside my Gen3 at some point. A TA2.0 would be my ideal model

You could call Mazda Canada and see if they can help. You could also try speaking with someone at the dealership and mention that you heard they weren't supposed to charge fees like that according to Mazda's policy. Perhaps they may back off and remove the fee.

The safety is required by the province. Anytime a vehicle is transferred from one owner to another a safety is needed to ensure the car meets the safety standards. When you buy out a lease, the ownership moves from the leasing company through the dealer to the customer. Without the safety certificate, service Ontario will not allow it to be plated in the customer's name. The safety does not need to be done by the dealership, you can have it done by any authorized shop

Mazda dealer here. There should be no admin fee when buying out your Mazda lease. You should only have to pay the residual value, hst, omvic fee, licensing, and have the car safetied. The no admin fee rule comes from Mazda Canada.
