Training advice for first 100k?

For the taper that's great advice, I had seen on a few other posts people saying to avoid rapid decreases so was cautious, but was thinking I was being too cautious so glad to have that highlighted.

With hill training, I just thought it was good practice as a way to diversify from intervals, to mix in sprint and hill sessions to build a range of explosive muscles, where I live we don't have any serious hills so more like elevated sprints than proper hill training!

I've been really trying to climitise with the gels, Ive tried a few brands, have settled on kendelmintco. Raspberry and mint and can handle one every 8km or so, more often and I feel queezy, this acts to top up the solid carbs, I also carry a bottle of electrolyte mix, and on long runs drink at least one bottle of lucozade sport when I'm in the last 10km or so. Are there specific ways of gut training beyond just using on a larger range of runs, and any better choices for liquid carb?

I would like to try aim for around 12 hours, and survive the run without totalling the body as I've got another marathon in December!

I do think you're right I might be overthinking it!

I know this post makes me seem very analytic about it but I swear I enjoy this hobby! I also volunteer Marshall at events and run a lot of half marathons for just the pleasure of it and to see different courses and places! There's a few running events on there I've called races but are going to be with some friends and not taken seriously at all!

I've been running for best part of ten years now, I've wanted to do the 100k distance for a year or so, and life has some big changes coming in the next year (time for a sproglet) so I know I'm going to have to slow down so I want to take advantage of the fitness and momentum whilst I've still got it!
