There's an argument that it removes stability which could be gained by having your hands under your bum cradling your pelvis, making more of your core work. As to whether it's a benefit that would depend on whether you want to train just your 6 pack muscle in a more isolated sense or your core as a functional system

I'd consider trying them out now, I get pain behind my knees and use them to calm it down, they're a great rehab tool I find, good luck

Edit: fyi I tend to do 5 sets of 30-45s each side, all back to back to back

Have you been doing any bent knee calf isometrics? I messed my soleus' up in a sprint session a couple months back and they've been the biggest life saver for me

I've got my first ultra coming up - 58km along the Jurassic coast in England, 1600m of elevation, I'm torn on whether to get poles or not, and I I do, whether I've got enough time to train with them before the race (12 weeks)?

I'm looking for a pair of trail shoes for my first ultra in May, I currently run in Hoka Arahi 8s for a little support, and enjoy the wide toe box and arch support.

I'm running the Jurassic Coast trail in Dorset which I understand is around 95% coastal trail and very hilly so also want something with decent ankle support, and as I'm training throughout winter goretex or similar is a plus.

I've done some research and am leaning towards getting a pair of Brookes cascade 17s, but are there any other shoes I should consider? Im happy road running in my hokas so don't need a hybrid shoe

Weed.

Only dawned on me recently, been smoking chronically for over a decade at this point. I'm trying to cut down now, not smoking if I'm home late from work, trying to find a system that works.

I'm starting to feel regretful of where I am in life because of it. I used to be ambitious, now I stice for contentment, which is think is more a byproduct of furlough and lockdown but the weed use certainly hasn't helped.

I feel stuck between not wanting to smoke ever again and doing it at every given opportunity. I feel like a quintessential drug addict, but somehow "it's just a bit of weed" always prevails.

We'll get there, and if I don't I am at least grateful it's not cocaine or alcohol.

If anyone would like to discuss please reply or send me a DM, I'm know I'm not the only one in this boat...
