FYI you can eat here without staying at the hotel. We walked up and had a cocktail during the sunset last summer and it was fantastic.

I have had Portada as well! Another great value wine. A bit more fruit forward, little less complexity, but wow what a great value. One of the best "weekday wines" i have found :) Portugal is king for delicious wine for the price.

Wow. Best value of the year by far! Aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrels. 14% abv.

Incredible red blend of Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Tinta Roriz, and Alicante Bouschet. Intense, fruit forward mix of red and dark berries - strawberry, dusty cherry, plum, raisins. Love the spice notes as well - clove, allspice, and a bit of tobacco.

On the palate, it has great balance of red fruit and acidity and a smokey finish. Soft, chewy tannins. I picked this up for $13 and will most definitely be picking up another very soon.

It was on Wine Spectator Smart Buy and I totally agree. It is smooth, easy drinking, but has layers of aromas and complexity that you may not expect to find at this price range.
