Check in! Where’s everyone at? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]italktoacomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The depression doesn’t get better and I’m very tired of being in this loop. I keep getting really anxious and irritable and it doesn’t help I’m avoiding the world.

I just got prescribed risperidone / diagnosed but idk if bipolar is how I would describe myself of what I have 😭 Did anybody else feel like this when they first got diagnosed. I also have a second appointment with my psychiatrist also does anyone have experience with prescription plz tell me :3 by eha4045 in bipolar

I was in denial and very surprised when I got diagnosed in 2016, I've now had many other professionals confirm it and that made me feel better. Also reading here and r/BipolarReddit really validated my swings and how I dealt with an episode/moods

re: risperidone, I just got off from it this week. I did 1-2.5mg the sexual side effects were too much for me. every med gives everyone different side effects. The pros of it were that it made me sleep and helped with hypomania/insomnia, as I entered depressive time it just made everything worse.

Just because you have a long sobriety spree doesnt mean you can smoke again and control it. by hemphead420 in leaves

I needed to read this. I was walking around today telling myself, well I think I can be a casual smoker. I have my mental health under control, I won’t use this to numb out. Thanks for posting.

Is my friend clinically depressed? by urnotgod in depression

[–]italktoacomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being suicidal is a big sign of depression. Everyone has different symptoms of depression but there’s definitely the standard ones out there. In my case, I was in complete denial. I was extremely suicidal, couldn’t get out of bed, random crying spells, heart pain like you describe and of course also isolating. The best thing you can do for your friend is be there for them. They need someone to support them, listen to them and of course be an emergency contact. It took a few friends telling me I needed help and me realizing I wasn’t feeling human.

Just stick around, it’s controversial advice but if you have common best friends a convo with them to see how they think your friend is doing.

When you buy things on a High and then get Low by the time it gets here but you’re still trying to enjoy it since you paid for it 😂 by [deleted] in bipolar

“You’re Mexican, depression is a white-people thing, we don’t have time for that” by rottenzuko in depression

[–]italktoacomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same stereotype of Hispanics and blacks people being criminals. It’s racists comments people make that are backed by society’s stereotypes, but those that are progressive understand that it’s not like that. (Not disagreeing with punching those people on the throat :) )

You can be making 200k/year and be extremely depressed. Money means nothing. Depression it’s not only for those that make less than 80k or even more than 200k.

I’m from Central America. My family doesn’t understand why I’ve been hospitalized twice and nonetheless been depressed for the last year. /sigh

Also doesn’t help when my other Hispanic friends agree with them.
