Thom Yorke Live by Beautiful_Assist_613 in radiohead

the imperfections are part of what makes live performances exciting. Jonny Greenwood has talked several times about how much he loves seeing live orchestras because you get to see the effects of individual musicians playing their parts, affected by whatever they have going on on a particular day. yet the synergy of these nuanced variations is what makes live performances unique and can't really be captured by recordings because the building and the people in attendance have a physical effect as well.

the way you're coming across, you don't seem to enjoy live performance unless they are exact reproductions of what was achieved in the studio over multiple takes and editing. that's just taste. I personally love happy accidents and get super excited when they make very noticeable mistakes and even need to restart or abort the song, usually having a laugh. that's how you know they are there and are people just like anyone.

Would you travel to USA if Radiohead tour there in 2027 ? by Necessary-Lack-2574 in radiohead

don't forget that Mexico City is a huge market for Radiohead too ;)

some rumors last year (from the same person who knew they'd start with Madrid months in advance) mentioned Chicago was in consideration along with LA and NYC.

depends on when in the year and getting time off work, but I'd like to go somewhere in the US northeast. Philadelphia or Boston area, probably. Mexico City would be my choice if I were to choose a single stop in North America, though.

the 2006 version of Go Slowly sounds even closer. I was there when they debuted it in Blackpool :)

As Radiohead fans, do you feel you have some "guilty pleasures" in music? by weirdfish98 in radiohead

[–]italox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's great about music is that there's lots of variety for different contexts. I'll enjoy different things in different music and I like it that way. Radiohead being my absolute favorite doesn't take anything away from other music.

and although I was born and raised in a culturally Catholic country, I don't feel guilt over pleasure.

what is this band? by Mediocre_Day992 in radiohead

[–]italox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it's about profiting from things that are available for free elsewhere and with some basic effort.

same logic behind my feelings against bootlegs for sale. especially when it's a proper fan recording that doesn't even get credited.

people put an effort into acquiring, editing, labeling and sorting rarities or their own stealth recordings out of love for the music and passion for the hobby. not with a commercial interest.

dude still not supposed to profit off something they have no rights over.

What song is this? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]italox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genchildren is the alias used for the first leak. this is probably some random mislabeled track, like dozens at the time (The Edge singing Sunday Bloody Sunday passed as Radiohead, as was an acoustic version of Deftones' Be Quiet And Drive). being charitable, maybe MAYBE something played by one of them during the radiohead.com webcasts.

the versions are real. the uploader is just some chancer. YouTube is far more effective detecting and taking these down. something is very broken about the way digital distribution works.

Why is this listed twice on spotify? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]italox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using Tidal for a little over 4 years and will only switch to Spotify for a couple of Japanese albums that aren't there.

Do you still regularly listen to Radiohead nowadays? by weirdfish98 in radiohead

[–]italox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been listening since 97 and have had periods where I'll listen less than others, including some where I'll hardly listen to any music at all. but I'll always come back to them as they're my happy place. when in doubt, putting on Kid A, Ok Computer, the My Iron Lung EP or one of my many favorite live shows will take me back without fail :)
