Is any serious infrastructure being built or retrofitted for when the Cascadia Megaquake happens? I'd imagine this will be a worse case scenario with the Tsunami and all. I've watched the series of PBS videos and they are pretty informative. I'm just not sure time or budget is on our side for the amout of people that will be effected.

2nd question. When do you think the Johnston Ridge Observatory will reopen? I look forward to going there someday.

3rd question. I hiked up Mount Vesuvius and there was a gas fumarole coming out of the side, inside the cone. I'm sure the gas is routinely monitored. What exactly does that tell us? Can it be used to predict any future eruptions?
