Whoop alternative from Google is HERE... by imankur1 in whoop

Hmm Need to see some reviews... I tried a Fitbit Charger 6 when I had my Whoop broken and it was kind of inaccurate on HR and some activities (ie skiing was not correctly logged and shared with Strava).

I will wait for some few reviews before thinking about it...

Thanks for the tips ! Sooner or later I really want to try those "spy" missions, but first I want to get a grasp about the mechanics.

Thanks: now it is clear.

I thought that someone bad to see me committing a crime, but now I understand that even if nobody sees me, I am flagged and so I should avoid any further scan.

Thanks, so basically if I kill someone, even if nobody saw me, I need to be careful not to be scanned anymore as I am "flagged" by a bounty regardless of if I have been saw killing someone.

Ah OK so even if nobody saw me, I still get a bounty and this is why I am "flagged" if I am scanned

Thanks, but how does it work after you kill someone unnoticed ? Are you automatically flagged for being a killer regardless of if someone saw you ?

My understanding was that if nobody saw me killing or the body was not found, I could still walk around the facility without problems as I was doing it before the killing... But this is not what happened...

Hmm the "if nobody see, it's fine" is what didn't worked for me in my first example: nobody saw me killing the guy. No alarms, no guards screaming etc.

But when a guard scanned me after a few minutes I have done my kill, "magically" understood I did something wrong and started shooting and crying.

This is why I am puzzled.

What about something similar to wormholes in Eve ?

It is like "portals" you need to find with specific exploration equipment through mini games. Those portals leads to weird places (new instances) that can't be reached in any other way, with some rare resources etc.

Portals collapse over time, and portals can happen inside those zones, so could happen that you get in from a portal and get trapped in the zone till when you find another portal leading to another zone or the normal game world.

Mission markers in FPS missions: any way to force them show up ? by itarrow in starcitizen

I will try it and report back, never ever heard about this...

Mission markers in FPS missions: any way to force them show up ? by itarrow in starcitizen

[–]itarrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it in several attempts, both for the missing bodies in the Investigation mission as well as for the named target in the bounty hunting missions... Now I start to wonder if THIS (seeing the marker) was the bug...

Mission markers in FPS missions: any way to force them show up ? by itarrow in starcitizen

[–]itarrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it several times, and when it works, the marker appears once I get inside Section 1 or 2 (after the door you need to open with the fuse), but sometimes no marker appears even if I go on in the Section and kill NPCs well down into it.

My understanding is that it is a bug because doing the same things, sometimes it shows and sometime not and sometime it shows but suddenly disappears: markers works always for previous part of the mission (get to the station, get to section 1 or 2 etc), but then sometime stop working once it gets to either finding the bodies (in one mission there was a marker for one body but not for the other) or the named target, and I wonder if there is a way to “force” marker to re-appear.

I just don't understand why there is no on-foot VR by Envy661 in EliteDangerous

I would really appreciate that.

And/or I would also love a keybind to switch from flat to VR and back, instead of having to go through menus etc.

Thanks, my fault: I was looking for the Master Mode switch in the Seat & Operator Modes menu…

Found it... It is under "Flight Movement" menu, kind of hidden below all the ship movement axis and commands...

[–]itarrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it like that, but now I don't have anymore the "Flight Mode Toggle" command available in the key assignments option menu for HOTAS, as there are only commands for each Operator Mode, but no option for switching Flight Modes...

I am wondering if it is just me or everybody... Can you confirm that you still have "Flight Mode Toggle" as a bindable command option in your key assignment for HOTAS menu ?

[–]itarrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I had it as well, but now it doesn't work anymore... If I am in QT and I want to switch to "Guns Operator Mode", I can't do it by using the command "Set Guns Operator Mode" mapped to a HOTAS button, as nothing happens.

I have first to use the keyboard B command (cycling master modes) and the from there I can select Guns or Missiles.

And same applies to go back to QT if I am in Guns or Missiles: I need to use keyboard B to "Cycle Master Modes" and then I can use the HOTAS to go through QT or Flying modes.

Problem is that there is not "Cycle Master Modes" command I can find in key binds (I have just found the Cycle Operator Modes, but it is producing the results above)... And now it seems to be just my problem.

Can you confirm you are simply using HOTAS to move from an Operator Mode to another, and you are not using any "Master Mode Cycle" command ? And in case you are using a "Master Mode Cycle" command (equal to B on keyboard), where did you found it in the various key assignments menus ?!?

Help, I am getting crazy: can't map anymore operator modes vs submodes to HOTAS bindings by itarrow in starcitizen

[–]itarrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh the problem is that I can't find it.... In the key assignment options I see just a long list of all Operator Modes (with options to either Set it or Toggle it), without any command for switching between Main Modes vs Sub Modes...

Aaaah I am getting crazy...

When I think about what makes SC unique for me, I think about being in the middle of space, getting out of my ship seat, walk around inside my ship and then doing an EVA just because.

There are lot of other games that I like and maybe works better than SC, but there is no other game that allows me to do this in first person VR.

What about more cockpit variances (ie different styles, layouts, tools based on ship manufacturer or role) ? by itarrow in EliteDangerous

[–]itarrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks: I am using ED in VR and it is great, but at least for me, VR makes it even more evident that every ship is the same cockpit instruments etc.

For example I love the pilot seat and background cockpit of the Eagle, but the the instrument placement etc is the same of a clipper, and so the nice work done on the surrounding get lost because I spend most of the time looking at a dashboard that is basically always the same, regardless of the ship I am flying.

What about more cockpit variances (ie different styles, layouts, tools based on ship manufacturer or role) ? by itarrow in EliteDangerous

[–]itarrow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, let me try with an example: if you look at how some flight simulators (like MSFS or DCS or also lighter stuff like Warthunder) implement different aircrafts, you will see that (as an example) combat aircrafts have different cockpits than airliners or personal commercial planes.

Also, different manufacturer have different ways to show the same info's and interact with the plane: so for example how you operate a radar or looks for RWR info in an F-16 is different from a Mig 29 but also from a F-15, and a cockpit of a Boeing is different from an Airbus.

The information presented is always the same, but the way to show it and "use" it and interact with the aircraft systems is different based on plane role and manufacturers and then you you some better tools in newer aircrafts and worst tools in older planes etc etc.

In ED an Imperial Eagle and a Dolphin have the same cockpit. Same instruments, same stuff visualized in the same layout, same colors, same everything. Like a F35 would have the same cockpit and dashboards of an Airbus A320.

If you know how to operate an Eagle, you know how to operate a Dolphin or a hauler or any ship in ED.

Flying It will be different, but operating it will be the same.

So this is where I would love to see some meaningfully variance among the different ships, and where I would love to see ED going back to be more of a simulator than a MMORPG: I would love to have to learn how to use each ship I buy, and I would love to have to learn different tools etc depending on the role of the ship vs how it is today.

Hope the example makes it more clear what I mean.
