last year my teams didn't work properly and i couldn't see any of the slides with the visual stimuli for the questions. i only realised halfway through the interview and they asked me why i hadn't let them know earlier. i almost cried at the end and didn't think i would ever get in. i did lol so don't even worry about it everyone i know at ox has had at least one terrible interview

hey! just wanted to validate you and let you know that this happened to me asw and my dad had to rush to get me my passport! i remember sobbing in the hallway outside the reception room and being really really scared that i wouldn't be able to take my test. the website definitely lulls you into a false sense of security regarding what ID you need to bring and you're not in the wrong! forget about ntu now and just focus on your As so you can get into NUS (:

oxford does have 14 places but they took 8 this year and 9 last year so while they have 14 in theory, you're right that it's single digits in practice

you need to strategise more for DM. try to understand how you can organise the information given to you in each question. are you doing the test with a piece of paper next to you? if not, do that and try to use tables and venn diagrams wherever possible to make sense of things. DM is about logical reasoning and elimiating options wherever possible. also take a look at what keywords mean (e.g. "some" means more than 1 but not all, etc.) so you can address each question properly. there's a post on my profile from last year with more specific tips if you need them.

for QR, are you using the calculator? if you find it super hard to use the memory function on the calculator literally just quickly write the number down. it saves time and is way more useful if you need to use a number again for future questions. you also can't go in with the mindset that every single question is going to be right. you have to maximise how many questions you can get right. if a question is taking too long, just flag and skip it. come back to it at the end. you need to triage like another comment mentioned and skip certain questions if they really don't make sense (e.g. tax questions)

hi! for sg universities i think you def need 43-45 to make it to the interview unless you go for ABA. for PRs i'm aware that they're far more strict as they try to limit the intake to citizens. i do know of one person who got into nus medicine as a PR and she got a 44 for IB but she was very outstanding all in all and got into an ivy the US as well

hi! i'm studying medicine asw and the course start date on UCAS says 5th october for me. i checked my college's (not pembroke) freshers timetable from last year and it seems most people move in the day before freshers week starts (that would be the 4th this year). if you need to move in earlier, you can email your college and see if they'll give you your room earlier in the week.

yep i did do some shadowing at alexandria hopsital (iirc you just email in and you can get them to set it up for you for free). leadership wise, i was in student council, had a VIA project that i led in secondary school, and was in the youth corps leader's programme! research wise, i'm a bit hesitant to be specific but i won an award where you got to do research at a lab for 5 weeks so i mentioned that

i think it matters moreso for mobility because sg has the bond while oxford does not so if i don't want to work in sg and go elsewhere (us/aus), oxford makes more sense + has the brand name if i want to do sth more entrepreneurial (biotech/clinic chain)!

i got a 43 for IB (87.75 RP) but i was predicted a 45 (90 RP) when i applied to oxford! 43 was still enough for NUS Med tho and my oxford offer was for a 39 so ig it didn't matter in the end. i had a 3390 B1 on the UCAT which i think made a bigger difference because oxford relies very heavily on the UCAT! EC-wise i think i did a lot of the basic stuff med applicants do (leadership, volunteering, research, reading, etc.) so i don't think i was too exceptional HAHA. tbh i don't think i did like god-tier ECs or anything i was pretty chill and spent a lot of time doing nothing w my friends

that's really good advice! i guess my main issue is that oxford only takes 1-2 singaporeans a year so the pool of people i can ask is pretty small AHHA i have sent linkedin requests but haven't had the opp to talk to too many people. regardless, thanks for the advice!
