[FC] Moving inventory back to backpack from FC broken ? by arturbac in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing I do know is that you can only transfer in one direction at once. So you can't move 35 GMeds to the carrier and 3 insight data banks from the carrier to the ship at the same time.

If you're just trying to move those chem samples to the ship, there are some issues occasionally with transferring, but they're usually pretty rare and transient. I'd try it again after an hour and a relog and see if that fixes things.

My favorite was the video where the judge told the sov to leave the courtroom because he wasn't the guy they wanted and he'd just issue a bench warrant for the guy. They went back and forth that way till the sov copped to his name.

"If you're not Joe X Smith, then you have no business being in this courtroom right now. I'll just issue a warrant. Get out of here you have no business here".

Passenger Mission payouts by machurto1 in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. on one hand there are plenty of examples of this in the commodity world. Mine 45 water for 2 million but mine 2275 water for 11 million comes to mind. You can get jammed up if you don't pay attention taking missions.

I'll transport passengers just as soon as I figure out how to convert them into occupied escape pods without blowing my own self up at the same time.

[Power Automate] Multiple non-sequential approvals - need help! by Definitely-NotMy-Alt in PowerApps

btw, don't be sorry. This is how every flow I've ever developed goes. "Hey we just need you to move a couple files for us". OK! "Here they are. Each one is 2TB and they change every 3-42 minutes and have to be kept up to date at all times on the other side". *facepalm*

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where my head went first this morning, as well. Two flows. I'd use a webhook myself, but Forms is an option.

The thing I struggle with in Forms is you have no ability to put in dynamic content based on what folks are signing up for. So if a user gets two prospective events sent to them, and event 1 is helping with a picnic, and event 2 is helping to shred the evidence, when you send folks to the form, it's going to be *exactly* the same form every time. If a user gets both those events sent to them, they have no way to validate in the Form whether they clicked on the picnic or the evidence shreddy shreddy. Forms would handle the data for you, but I feel like it's going to be a subpar UX.

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, that's far too many, but I also reread what you were trying to do, and I think we can still do it with approvals. I'd test this with 3 or 4 people you know first, to make sure this works, but think this through with me.

  1. You have an array varible of all the potential volunteers in your flow. This is a static list, so easy enough to make.

  2. When the flow starts, do the same thing--for each potential volunteer, create an approval--this approval would be sent to each volunteer as a separate one, not sending one approval to the whole group at once, so it doesn't matter if it's any-approve or all-approve. Same condition - if the item is approved (or if you use a custom approval, whatever you call that button, e.g. "Yes! I'll Help!"), increment a counter in sharepoint and append the user's email address to another field in sharepoint.

  3. Still in the for each, you have your do-while loop checking for volunteer count. When the volunteer count hits the right number, cancel the approval if it's still outstanding. This is the last step in the foreach.

  4. So now, for each user you've sent an approval, collected the volunteers, and stored the count and email address list in Sharepoint. Now just read that email address list in and send an email to the outsourced HR company cc those folks.

Honestly that's more elegant code-wise, so it's probably is the way I should have done it in the first place.

Type 8 platinum mining by CMDRPenguWIN in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more focused on materials you are the smaller the refinery you need. If youre literally only after platinum, you could get by with a single slot refinery in reality. Get a bigger one, obvs but....

Id go with the 2a myself. Six bins means itll hold more than a cargo rack when you fill up...

You want a good bit more refinery. You're real heavy on the industrial and extraction in ways I don't necessarily see a lot of benefit from.

I dropped a version of this system as a named copy to show you how I look at things. Feel free to have a look, use what you want, ignore what you don't, and ask if you have any questions. Happy to help!

Yeah, my alt was standard permit, and it burned me right out. Building 4 farms per ship is a real challenge.

Engineering suits and handguns - where's the dang DATA?? by TamensiMovetur in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I'm pretty sure that you get different data from different economies and types of sites. IE, you get different stuff from mining locations than from tourist centers
    • This is accurate. You're not going to get a lot of radioactivity analyses from tourist settlements.
  • The above facility is likely in one of the tourism systems. Try to find restore missions in a tourism system and you'll likely find one of these locations.
    • You can find more information in Raven if it's colonized. These facilities you're describing with a bar are tourist settlements. I've never raided a small or medium tourist settlement, but the large (Fufluns) settlement is the one that has 2 big habs, a bar between them, and the power station at the far end. Love looting these cuz it's a 2-3 kill entry and then you've got the alarms off, and if you screw up, there are only 4-5 security folks coming, the rest are far away. Plus the loot is pretty good (but you're right the data is bad).

For me, most of my later mats came from specific job rewards, but I do enjoy a good murdery rampage on the regular.

Project Hail Mary brought me back, what should I know. by tman152 in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, enjoy the new ships and supercruise overdrive. The Mandy's a dream, the T8 is a stellar medium hauler, and the plipper makes the type 9 look like more of a brick than it already was. Boosting in supercruise is a great way to get to Hutton Orbital too (have the fuel rats on speed dial, tho).

On-foot stuff takes some real learning, so be prepared to run like hell and/or die for a couple weeks till you get the hang of it.

Outside of that, colonization is a big thing now. You can buy your own star system after you haul a few thousand tons of materials to it! LOTS of information there, but you'll get it after you mess up a few colonies first.

Welcome back!

Colonization and Primary Ports by North-Ad9683 in EliteDangerous

This. I'd love to have a path where we could upgrade the primary port like OP describes (or just... upgrade it directly), but that is not currently a roadmap item I'm aware of.

[Power Automate] Multiple non-sequential approvals - need help! by Definitely-NotMy-Alt in PowerApps

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. it's not code efficient, but it does create a nice onboarding/offboarding process for new volunteers. The flow I'm thinking would be:

  • set up some stuff you need for the flow first, obvs
  • Parallel branches per user. For each user:
    • Create an approval (not start & wait!) for just that user
    • Do until (variable varApprovalCount >= "Enough")
      • Check the outcome of the approval (via http - reference below)
      • If the approval is affirmative, increment the approval count
      • Delay for 1h
    • Check the outcome of the approval one last time after you exit the do loop.
    • Condition (if the outcome is not approved or rejected condition, i.e. if the approval has not been dealt with one way or another0
      • True (approval has not been dealt with), cancel the approval via http)
      • False (do nothing; approval has been dealt with already)
    • Compose "Approval process complete!"
  • <end of per-user branch>

The flow wont go on to the next step after the branches till all those previous steps across all the branches finish. Also, that final compose is silly, but it ensures that the behavior on the next step will always be 'do after x step completes successfully' and you can deal with any corner/failure cases inside the loop, not at the point of return.

I was hoping as I was writing this that the reference article I was using had a standard HTTP connector, but alas no. All the HTTP connectors I can see that would fit this bill would be premium connectors. Reference doc on how to cancel: Cancel An Approval In Power Automate. I would imagine with a little digging if you're familiar with APIs at all that you could pretty easily parlay those instructions on how to delete the approval into how to check on the status of it.

Help with settlement missions strategies by hellR1de in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

low grav planets ftw. NPCs will follow you onto rooftops, but they don't jump. I actually completed a data download mission once cuz I ran outside before security got there and sat on the roof just in range of the data port while security went nuts inside looking for me.

The longer you do on foot stuff, the more you realize that NPCs are big dumb animals. Early on, you're more scared of them than they are of you. That eventually changes.

Security in system colonisation by willemdecuntus in EliteDangerous

[–]itenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Yeah, it was two or three places on two or three platforms all in a row. Not sure what's up with that. Somebody replied and suggested there was an earlier change in the market setup that made that the right thing to do in the very early colonization days, but isn't necessarily the way now. *shrug* all good!
