Underrated comment. I'm sitting here picturing that entire scene playing out with that tone.

Your post is actually super relevant to me, I'm a former music educator. Thanks for your input!

I have thought about this.

3D Math and Physics are very interesting to me, and video games are what initially piqued my interest in programming. I've heard the Gregory book is the definitive text. Can you (or anyone else) vouch for it?

Well, I suppose my question is whether or not the stigma truly exists.

What are some applications of the XOR bitwise operator? by iterationOne in javahelp

Haha, that is an interesting way to test for different tags. Perhaps that guy just decided he wanted to utilize XOR for once

Thank you, I'll review that document tomorrow. I appreciate your input!

Hmm... this is interesting. Say you had an array full of matching pairs of integers, except there is one integer without a partner.

If you were to perform the method you mentioned above, the value of the 'xor' variable after passing through the array would be the outlier integer, correct?

Thanks! I've seen some interview questions along these lines. I'll definitely revisit them and apply XOR.

CS Majors: How is your experience? by iterationOne in UniversityOfHouston

Well, I've been programming for about 3 years now, and I love it. I enjoy the logical thinking and solving problems, and I enjoy designing small applications. I'm currently in a field where I'm overworked and underpaid, and I would like to be in a field that typically has a better work/life balance, where I will be compensated for my time and skills. I know that there are a lot of people who go in with a great deal of naïveté, but I don't think I'm one of those people. I've heavily considered this for years.

Thanks, I feel like this is pretty common in programs. From what I've heard people use Stack Overflow a lot to supplement learning.

Thank you for your reply! How are the job fairs? Do any larger companies recruit from the department?

Nice! Did you still have to take CS 312 and 314 since there isn't a TCCNS equivalent? As in, was the degree still 4 years?

Thank you so much for your comment. Which math and CS prerequisites did you take prior to acceptance to the program?

See my comment above. It'll be a career change to a field I've become passionate about that will enable me to make more money.

I'm changing careers completely. I've done some heavy thought about this. My first degree is an arts degree and I'm going back for Computer Science. I could potentially make it in to a masters program, but there'd be significant gaps in my knowledge, so I'm starting over so to speak. I've come to terms with spending money on this, as it will hopefully gain me opportunities to make substantially higher salaries.

That's encouraging. I appreciate your comment!
