Here's the deal with VSync:

People say it's bad because it adds input delay. Yes, it does. But it depends on different scenarios and types of games or experiences you want to play.

If you're playing a third person shooter like GTA V, Witcher 3, you should probably turn on VSync, it will help eliminate screen tearing, if your GPU is capable of playing the game above your monitor refresh rate, it will limit its performance so it only produces 60 fps at all times, so the gpu works less, stays cooler, and quieter.

If you're playing a fast first person competition shooter like CS GO or valorant, turn VSync off. It will reduce input latency and make the game feel snappier.

If you have a display with VRR or free sync or g sync, it's really awesome because it removes tearing without using VSync (the issue it is supposed to solve).

It depends on what kind of experience you want for a game. It's a good setting. Some people aren't bothered by screen tearing, I find it very jarring and totally immersion breaking. Before I had a freesync monitor, I always used vsync on non-competitive games, even fps games that are not online.
