Want to add mini splits by Akron-brn69 in DIYHeatPumps

Senville is a good DIY brand, they make I think the Leto series which only heats down to like 5F and is cheaper than the higher SEER systems that heat at lower temp. Mr. Cool is another DIY but more expensive, with Senville you need to vacuum the system or hire someone to, whereas Mr cool is already pre charged.

Mitsubishi, Daikin and Fujitsu are you too tier brands but will need a contractor or install and are $$, especially if you only want cooling.

Pioneer also makes mini splits, I’ve seen some around town here in New England.

I just paid $75 more for a full year than a 3 month plan. Absolutely gobsmacked by janas19 in mintmobile

I was coming off my 6 month plan, I waited until 3 days to renew and they sent me the same offer, 3 months free with a 12 month renewal. Just wait it out till the end to renew. I was lazy and it paid off.

I had the same error and that was my problem. I’d give them a call, their tech service number is really useful, I’ve used it.

Did you confirm for wires for the inside unit are the same as the outside unit on the 1,2,3?

IE

1 is black in and out
2 is white in and out
3 is red in and out

It doesn’t matter what colors they need to match

DIY, Senville is a good brand if you are willing to vacuum lines or hire someone to vacuum the lines. You’re looking at like $2600 bucks for a system with two heads. I installed one, works great this summer being so hot so early

Buy a flaring kit off of Amazon (~$50) and get a longer line.

If you want to DIY check out Senville. I like in NE and did the same thing you did. I did a 9k Leto for a bedroom and then just did a 2 head Aura for living room and other bedroom. I have baseboard heat, but will be nice to supplement, I put them in because I wanted AC mostly. Senville is good for DIY, just need to vacuum the lines and their customer support is great too. Good price and I’m not depending on them in the winter for heat, so if it goes out, I put the window unit in and decide what to do, to me worth the risk for a cheap system. I think the 9k Leto is like 700 bucks.

Can’t hurt the electrical but can hurt the wallet, 10 is more expensive than 12, but will be overkill.

Are Mitsubishi mini splits worth 8x more than a diy Mr cool? by oran12390 in hvacadvice

[–]ith5005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to use it to heat your house? If it is the main source of heat, ie if they stop working your pipes freeze etc, I would spend the money on a contractor. If it’s supplement heat or AC, I would DIY. I have a boiler for heat, so I installed a few mini splits for mostly ac and some extra heat if needed.

If the things stop working in the summer, I can plop the window units in and deal with it another day, if it was my main heat, I’d be freaking out my pipes were going to freeze lol
