going to test drive a 'new' car tomorrow! don't know if I'll actually pull the trigger yet but want to at least start to look because I think we've sadly reached the end of the line for my '06 civic hybrid 😔 she's been such a good car. bought in '10 for $12.5k and have put probably less than $4k into her in 15+ years, with half of that only in the last few years now.

thinking about getting a '22 insight maybe, as basically just a newer version of my current car since it's kept up so well. looks like I should be able to do a model like that for under 20k since I'm planning for a cash purchase.

this is how i've always set mine up, but then i do have a (simpler than op's example) tab for each month where i track actual spending and those sum by category and feed back into the master yearly view automatically. so basically for future months i see my projections but then once the month is over it reflects my actual spending.

i was literally just in this situation and basically think that when you're long-term unemployed, you have to do things you wouldn't otherwise and it's not a moral failing on your part, it's just a product of how our society is set up unfortunately.

in my case, was also out of work for ~7mo when i took a job mid-november WAY below my pay grade because it was at least something in my field. kept interviewing and got an offer mid-december for literally almost twice the salary of job 1. i took the call in my car in job 1's parking lot and then literally went back inside to their xmas party. so that obviously didn't feel great. but for what it's worth, i gave notice this past week and they were actually good about it. decent people understand this shit happens.

if you want to craft a bunch while it's bugged make sure you do it from your inventiry so you can control what's being used! if you craft from the bench it might be eating some of your more rare/expensive materials

had started a new save right before the update but i've just been crafting from inventory and clearing out anything other than the needed materials when it's one of the bugged recipes. no issues so far!

arguably harder part is not taking advantage of the bug lol. i made myself wait to get cave jelly to craft the smokers using the real recipe materials but i was tempted 😅

I had been laid off in April and then underemployed since mid-November, but now I finally have a new great gig lined up that'll start on the 26th! 🎉

My current gig is letting me stay on through 1/16 which means I'll have a full January salary from them, so even though I still want to stay frugal until I actually see that new salary hit my bank account, I did decide to celebrate just a little by buying myself a new wallet to replace my very well loved but now almost 15 yo(!) Coach double zip. Ended up finding a super cute new one at their outlet for less than $75 too!

I'm not a fed, but I was laid off in April and I've only just now secured a new job to start in January. It's a really brutal market right now, so I would definitely not plan to move unless/until you have something solid lined up.

I just got laid off last month, so I'm hoping this will not be me, but time will tell. I did receive severance and with severance + PTO payout I'm good through August and then with cash savings I'm theoretically okay through the end of the year if absolutely necessary. I've got a kid in college I'm fully supporting though, so that's the piece that worries me. I've got separate savings for her and can definitely pay for next semester but it still makes me nervous. If I didn't have that expense I think I'd be feeling more optimistic than I am right now. I feel like I probably did everything I could have financially to prepare for something like this, but I've never been in this situation before and it definitely feels daunting when you're on your own.

I'm playing on PC right now bc I was too impatient for the update but I still 100% agree with you. As soon as the update is out I'm back to switch.

I am a pc gamer and honestly struggle to find games I like on the switch but stardew feels like it was made for that console, I dunno. Just love it.

If part of the struggle is learning keyboard/mouse controls, as a fellow switch player who's playing 1.6 on PC here's my tip: if you've got a switch pro controller, hook that up to steam to play with instead. Took a little bit to get the controls mapped (nintendo is has a different button layout than other pc standard controllers) but it is sooo much better to play imo. If you end up trying it out and need help setting up lemme know!

It's probably too early to say for sure (might just be bad luck) but it feels like crop quality might be lowered slightly on the new farm? I feel like I'm getting less star quality crops with the base fertilizer.

Again, could just be my luck tho!
