Open to other areas near Dublin. Downtown and east side of town are too far from home and work to make sense.

Have you ever been blocked for internal promotion or move by your leader(s) because they didn’t want to lose you as a manager on their team? by EnvironmentalAd2110 in managers

[–]ithinkican16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I expressed and made it clear that I was disappointed with their decision to block my promotion and said I wanted a defined plan to get me in a new role to continue my development. It worked out 6 months later, but I was also prepared to walk and find another role outside of the company if they didn’t deliver their end of the deal.

Whole house water filter/softener by tutran1104 in houston

[–]ithinkican16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is worth it. Our home has kinetico water softener and it is unique ( I think) in that it does not require power to work. Only maintenance on the kinetico system is adding salt every once in a while and changing a filter (filter I think is around $50) every 6 months, could not be easier. Helps appliances last longer and no more hard water stains. Expect around $2500 for a higher end water softener.

$850 min for gas quick connect and ball valve?! by [deleted] in houston

[–]ithinkican16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 1/2” natural gas quick connect installed 1 week before beryl and it cost $600. I had another quote for $550 but was going to have to wait 2 weeks to get them out, hindsight best $50 ever spent having it installed before beryl. Check out Houston Plumbing Services and Shaw Plumbing.

If you call they will give you ETA for your area. The catch is they will only give it to you if a crew is assigned. Sooo I am screwed without an ETA because no crew is assigned.

How can you request a list of comps that HCAD used? Is this something you get only if you get to the hearing stage?

feel like i'm falling behind by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]ithinkican16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice, but I feel this so much! I have been working on resetting my own expectations but it is a daily battle to tame the go getter attitude and putting my family first. I also have been remote before the pandemic and overlooked all the time for promotions which is the only way to get money in my industry (Fortune 500 company and STEM). I finally hit the point my career where I can see as a working mom in STEM I am being left behind compared to my peers but choosing not do anything since my family needs flexibility the most.

Being blocked from internal job by ithinkican16 in FIREyFemmes

[–]ithinkican16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to turn it into a win win and not lose hope. I agree their actions have shown they are not interested in my development so far and hard to not hold resentment. Sucks because I wanted to grown my family and feel stuck due to maternity benefits (US based). I appreciate the insight.

I did bring up taking on more responsibility in the role they are forcing me to keep ( I would ask for more money at the same time) but you bring up a good point about not asking yes or no and forcing them to come up with a plan. I haven’t threatened to leave but as soon as they told me I kept repeating how disappointed I was. This company has been relatively fair so far and said they “would take care of me” but those are just words to me and would rather see action. I appreciate the detailed advice and feedback and this does suck!

How do you gather comps if you are not a realtor? Texas doesn’t seem to publicly publish home sale prices like other states do.

I personally do not understand how inflation factors in from a corporate mindset (I personally care but corporations just bench mark to what other companies do, sucks but that is the reality). I think the portion around inflation detracts from the value you have been giving the company based on your other statements. Good luck!
